I'm betting that the older indicator switch would swap over to the new version bracket, re-use the cancelling /DSC collar job jobbed 👍🏻

Just some more info to clarify if it helps. Visually a DSC Defender (2015 -2016) has a DSC disable button on the left side of the centre console (LR055956) and the lower plastic cover on the steering column has a step down section to accomodate the wiring harness for the steering angle sensor (LR055931). For the DSC operation there is only a single YAW sensor behind the dash on the bulkhead (LR021953) Repairs: The most common failure on a DSC equipped Defender is the age old indicator stalk, there are two small claws that hold it to the metal bracket, these commonly break off or the internal plastic bits break. I have had no success in repairing them or fitting the ealy non DSC indicator assemblies to the later DSC metal bracket. As once I remove the indicator assembly all the little springs and plastic bits fall out. Its may well be possible I simply don't have the time or the patience. Currently there is no lucas OEM for the DSC equipped indicator stalk assembly. For all other pre-DSC there is lucasclassic (which is now owned by ZF) the parts are made in Taiwan and seem really good quality. One comment said their connector had a bullet plug. This is the early style, also note there are two versions of the early bullet plug where the metal bracket is different, as in the spacing for the wiper stalk from the centre hole to the screw mountings are different.

This looks like a hold my beer moment ... and possibly keep my soldering iron on standby.

Shame the cancellation collars are not interchangeable as I installed a leather XS wheel to my 300tdi and had to drill the wheel to fit roll pins to allow the indicators to cancel. 😭

I’d be surprised if anything other than the bracket, cancelling collar and DSC sensor are different, and all the switches should be interchangeable. As for the whole assembly being sold complete as a way of driving up prices, I hope you were only asking rhetorically - the whole industry has been doing just that, along with reducing component life and having staggered component failure points to maximise the revenue from parts sales.
