Lucas does great to quiet noisy lifters but I’d do 200-300 miles with a can of SeaFoam in the crankcase first to clean out whatever blockage is in the lifters. Then change the oil and substitute Lucas for 1qt of oil.

And 6 upper cylinder lubricant injector cleaner. Still have 3 stabilizer left. He did say tools will be around long after he's gone

It's much better to pour the lucas in your oil jug and shake it before you pour it in. It can plug up your oil pickup filter making it really hard for it to pull up. Personally I use 1/2 quart per oil change unless it's 7qt fill. It's fantastic stuff and if you buy it by the gallon you get a quart and a half free as the bulk price.

Lucas is always in my oil change area. Mowers, cars, trucks get a dose. I only put enough in to get a coat to show on dip sticks for the life of the oil. My engines never rattle because I start with a clean engine and a swig at each oil change. Never have had to use a quart. The film stays on the metal. Even my trim mower after 4 months idle shows full and needs a good wiping to dry the dip stick.

My wife's Rio 1.4 crdi and my brother's kia soul 1.7crdi exactly the same ticking noise. Both cars are low mileage and have had regular oil changes. This is definently a ki hyundai fault. They both drive fine acceleration is spot on and no oil leaks. Just an noisy engine at the traffic lights of whilst sitting idle. The engine used to be so quiet. When I used to take the Rio in for it's annual inspection. The inspector used to say it didn't sound like a diesel. I initially thought it was very quite for a diesel. Now the noise can be quite annoying. I'm used to driving my Volvo XC90 T8 hybrid. The both engine and motor make very little noise. I'll give this a go on the Mrs's car, great review pal 👍

@@PhillipsVision FYI I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer SS with the 6.0 V8. 310,000 miles. I've owned it since 2012 when it had 74,000 on it and it's been a great vehicle. I started getting a lifter noise a little past 300K miles so I first used Rislone with virtually zero effect. I decided to do an oil flush. Getting rid of the crud made the lifter tap worse and dropped my oil pressure from what normally was 40-50 psi down to 25-30 psi. So I picked up the Lucas oil stabilizer that is the high mileage version in the gray bottle-made for engines over 75,000 miles. 6 quart system so I used just under 1.5 quarts Lucas and the rest 5W30 oil. It raised the oil pressure back to the original levels and the lifter noise is totally gone upon startup and stays that way for roughly 5 minutes. It then taps for about 4-5 minutes (when the engine is hot but the oil is not yet up to temp) but quiets once the oil gets hot. After that it only taps if I sit at idle for extended periods. I'm wondering if a second treatment with a slightly higher ratio will totally quiet it. I'm totally impressed with what it did with the oil pressure. Everyone I know who has used Lucas products seems to swear by them. I also am considering going from 5W30 to 10W30 oil. Any thoughts on whether this might take care of the lifter tick?

Try adding half a quart of transmission fluid mercon v if the hydraulic lifters are worn or if it's getting stuck. Motor oil itself is not a very good hydraulic fluid to operate the hydraulic lifters. Adding some transmission fluid in the motor oil (1/2 qt to full qt) will help with the hydraulic lifters to lift them a little higher and it should stop your ticking noise. Done it to my 2008 Toyota sienna and it worked. Seen it on a video on KZfaq.

I have a 2005 Cadillac DTS like showroom condition with 110,000 MI. The car used 5-20 conventional motor oil. The last oil change I got the mechanic made a mistake and put in 5-20 synthetic oil. About 2 weeks later I heard a little tap which I never had before. I was thinking of getting another oil change and putting in the conventional oil that I always been using. If it's still tap a little I'll try that Lucas product and see what happens. I'm not going to add that whole bottle of Lucas I'll just add a little every time it drops a little on the dipstick. I do have that notorious North Star oil leak which doesn't lose much oil. I was telling my mechanic that I will be trying that Lucas oil stop leak that Lucas makes. He told me don't do it if you have just problems with just a little leakage. He says that it's just like playing Russian roulette it might stop the leak and again it might ruin the engine. He says the car is designed to use the right oil that Cadillac recommends and nothing heavier.
@PhillipsVision
@PhillipsVision 2 жыл бұрын
First, changing from conventional to synthetic shouldn’t cause any problems. The only difference is that synthetic takes longer to breakdown, meaning it can last longer between changes. They are both lubricants. The second thing, the mechanic is right. The Lucas and other thickened additives will quiet noises and can help with leaks. The problem is if your vehicle requires a thinner oil, like yours, the thickened oils can cause damage since they cannot lubricate the tighter passages as needed.

Everyone focuses do heavily on the thickness of Lucas, but what I never hear mentioned is how sticky-slick the stuff is. Not only does it stick to the parts REALLY well, which keeps parts protected between cycles, it increases how slippery parts are. You can experience it yourself by coating a part or something metal in oil and handling it. Then, clean and cover it in Lucas. The lucas will be super slippery and be much harder to remove. I use it in my wheel bearings and there is a huge difference in temperature, noise and oil life quality.

@@Azeminad I have nothing against it, though keep in mind the increased viscosity, your cutout pressure, operating conditions and driving habits. So, basically everything, heh. I plan to start at a 10% blend in my vehicles, but have no issue with using straight Hub oil in the wheel hubs. I have been using it my truck for a few years without issue now. Gearings get a lot of benefit, with lower risk since they tend to be splash lubricated and thus less sensitive to their oils. Also, are cheaper than engines if something does go wrong, heh. I have used it in my drive axles before, and it made a notable difference there as well. It won't be a magic fix , and may be unnoticeable for most. It actually turns into the exact consistency inside the engine as it was coming out of the bottle "grease" once the engine is turned off and cooled down. Used for extended periods it collects in oil pan and creates a barrier in the oil pan and restricts flow of oil to your oil pump. Stay away if you care about your engine! Flow > Grease
@Kokl03
@Kokl03 11 ай бұрын
Yea that’s not really how that works, it would assimilate with the oil and blend into it. Once this occurs it cannot return to its original consistency because new bonds have formed between then oil and the stabilizer. It’s not like it just floats around in there and then piles up lol easiest was to test this is to mix it with oil and then mix the shit out of it and see if it settle in the bottom. I’d bet a thousand buck it doesn’t settle
@latus-rectum45
@latus-rectum45 11 ай бұрын
@Kokl03 Actually, that's exactly how that works. It is grease going in and when the engine is started back up cold it is in its original "form" consistency "Grease." Over the course of several oil changes its base accumulates in various places especially the oil pan. I've rebuilt many with four to six inches accumulated in the bottom of pan. (Flow > viscosity) if the engine is gone or engine has out of spec tolerances go for it but for a perfectly healthy engine, this additive is creating a problem.

Your oil is black and like water, You should have changed your oil and filter and use a heavier oil then add the lucas treatment. Adding the lucas to already black and thin oil is not good....

The oil had been changed prior to the video, and is only appearing dark due to the poor lighting under the car. As for the oil weight; yes you can put a thicker oil in the vehicle, however the recommended weight is always the best way to go since passage ways in the engine vary by vehicle.

Hiding the noise doesn't fix the real problem. The engine still really the same.
