Lucas isn't made to fix a knocking rod. It can help with LIFTER tick as has been shown countless times. Also can help with minor timing chain rattle at start up. I don't know where you got the idea that Lucas is meant to fix a knocking rod but there is no claim of that on any of their info so perhaps the only thing that you've "myth-busted" was your own faulty assumptions on what Lucas is supposed to do.

If it sounds like a machine gun when idleing bearings are spun completely. However if the rod knock only occurs upwards of 1500-2000 rpm you might be lucky with just replacing the bearing shells. This experiement is stupid becuase you got a huge gap in the bearing. The oil pressure light is probably on aswell.

LUCAS says up to 60-80% with badly worn engine. Therefore try 4 qts w 1 qt oil........ perhaps!

Yeah that sounds more like a timing chain jumping. Mmm… the infamous Chevy Tranverse and it has the 3.6l v6 these are known for have timing chain issues. My advice it you don’t have the money get rid of it.

Heavier oil will not help the noise.Thicker oil just makes the problem worse.You need a new engine or sell the vehicle.

It's a spun bearing, somebody over revved the engine by hitting ice or hard acceleration.

the lifters /rockers are well beyond this additive's short term fix!.. sometimes the only real solution is to go ahead and change them! but is up to you! for if your car has any sentimental value or otherwise... for if not a mechanic? you better start saying goodbye to it....

If you have an actually damaged engine eg this car the only thing going to fix it is an engine rebuild no oil isz going to fix broken or worn metal if you using the Lucas before during regular intervals you probably wouldn't be having that issue also not sure where you hear you should use the thickest oil possible you should you manufacture recommended oil and mix lucas with that

Lucas Oil additive claimed it can mix with synthetics on the internet it did not in my 2017 GMC Sierra I heard terrible engine noise it was shut off and drained with fresh oil I will never use this product in my vehicle ever thank you

It can be 1. Low oil 2. Worn big end bearings 3. Wrong fuel octane fuel 4. Retarded timing caused by worn timing chain/belt

I stopped a rod knock in a Kia Optima one time that was pretty loud, Ised 2 bottles of Lucas & 2 bottles of 30w oil, Went away 100% then I hurry up & sold that crap the same week.
