As an outsider, if I was there, I would have asked their skipper what number he thinks is fair had it happened to him and his family. This respects their family, the captain and gets the message across, without hard feelings.

This should have been titled "how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory". You could write a book about Johnny Sideburns. Interesting how he made it through that life. Hi John, and a very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year, even though it's about 7 months into it. I still don't quite understand what happened in this story really. Though no matter what it was entertaining, so that's the most important part if anything. It was just so out of it in so many different ways, that I just lost trying to figure out Who's Who, and What's What etc... etc...Lol!

Very good story! I've watched it several times. If Sideburns hadn't interjected that and you had been able to ask for the 40k, what were you hoping for the outcome to be? Was 40k a starting point for negotiating? If so, what's the least amount that you would have agreed to, and if you were not able to come to any agreement on any amount, would another sitdown be required between captains?

What a story! John you so obviously had that covered until Sideburns pulled that stunt. My hunch is even Sonny Ciccone would have had far more respect for how you were handling that than how Sideburns punked out. Yes, you gave his guy a tongue lashing but it didn't really reach the level of abuse IMO. Old school guy like Ciccone knew what was what no doubt. Must have been embarrassing to have Sideburns pull that shit after already discussing how you were going to handle it. I don't like that guy and I don't even know him lol.
