i think the director said they filmed a scene but since it took place so far in the future Trixie would be in her what, 40s? They'd need to use a completely different actress and the audience would be more confused and taken out of the moment by not having Trixie in the whole season then randomly throwing in an adult version of her in the finale. ultimately they really mishandled her character this season but overall it was a great season imo

The most satisfying part of this whole thing was seeing Lucifer finally become a mature, wise person at the end of it, but still being himself. Every episode of the procedural was “Lucifer relates to case, then learns moral lesson when they catch bad guy” which is only really valid if we actually see him grow in the entire show. And I love that we did, that he grows to care for every human, that he understands himself, that he looks beyond himself regularly. And that final message, “if even the devil can be grow, so can you” is perfect
@troikas3353

My biggest gripe with the series is just that I really wish it had moved away from the procedural element. It felt like there was a really awesome Buffy/Angel-esque supernatural show buried in here but it was constantly being held back by being a quirky cop drama first and it's devotion to formula for so much of its run time. But for what it is it's definitely a fun time and Tom Ellis absolutely killed it as Lucifer. I could have watched him play that part for many more seasons.

I really enjoyed the last season of this series, and so clearly did everyone involved in it! there were so many fun 'everything goes' moment, it was just a blast! I especially liked the moments spoiled below....... . . spoiler . . I liked how Amanadiel's first act as God was doing away with the throne and simply standing among his sibling, on the same level. his whole concept of 'hands on' guidance also makes so much more sense. and then, of course, was the cute little moment when little Charlie first sprouted angel wings and we saw Amanadiel cheer and Linda's face of utter disbelief. I was a bit ambivalent about Rory/Aurora when it was first revealed she was Chloé and Lucifer's child from the future (yup, Flash vibes allright). but she turned out to be a really great character and I liked her a lot. now of course the reason Lucifer was never around felt a bit forced - couldn't he take off weekends or holidays? once she sprouted wings, couldn't she visit him? or even Amanadiel - GOD - taking her and Chloé to visit Lucifer in hell? seems to have been many ways. heck, even communication via letters or other ways should have been possible. either way, as she said a bit later on, her childhood was comparatively short in lieu of her long/immortal life, of Chloé's immortal soul and Lucifer's immortality. they'll be together as a happy family for all the remaining time. I also came to really like Eve as a character. when she was first introduced there wasn't much to her, needlessly clinging to Lucifer and not much else going on for her - which, of course, was also a plot point. but her and Maze's relationship really was cute and the idea of them bounty hunting together is heart warming in a very 'Lucifer' way. and speaking of which; Maze clearly has had tons of development. and then, of course, Tom Ellis and the excellent decision to have him sing for any and no reason at all - what a charismatic person! I will certainly miss my most favorite devil!
@TheEmoUte
@TheEmoUte 2 жыл бұрын
Regarding your first point, Lucifer couldn’t visit or see Aurora, because if he did she wouldn’t have felt abandoned by him, and she wouldn’t have resented him, so she would’ve never gone back in time to find out why he left, which means he never would’ve realised his calling. That being said, he definitely could’ve still visited Chloe in secret. Really as long as he doesn’t see Aurora the timeline wouldn’t change.

While I think the live-action Lucifer show had it's merits (Tom Ellis being an utter gem), I do agree and have always felt like the live-action Lucifer show was a defanged kiddifed version of the Lucifer from the comics. It felt like the show took more inspiration from early Supernatural than it did the comic book. I still enjoyed the different approach they were taking with the show, don't get me wrong. But I would've loved to see a more comics-accurate version of Lucifer on the screen. In fact, I'm totally in favor of a second adaptation of Lucifer that's more comic accurate but rather than live-action which would be expensive and would never really have the budget to recreate the cosmic wonders and weirdness of the Lucifer comics, I'd instead suggest that a more comics-accurate Lucifer show should be an animated show. There's so much more you can do with it, going all cosmic and stuff won't require a huge budget like it would with a live-action film, and it helps distinguishes itself from the live-action Lucifer show, allowing them to proudly have their own places in the media and not be dragged down by each other's shadows.

The one thing that always stuck in my mind from this show was when Uriel was killed by Lucifer but they never really brought it back up, I found that strange especially when God came down to earth when 'his children were fighting' in the police precinct but did nothing for Uriel and the characters question him then.

Fulfilled was my exact feeling as well. This season stuck to what made Lucifer great as a show and that's the characters. The time travel made me super concerned at first but the way they executed that plot made all of the implications you would expect a complete non-issue for me. It wasn't about the time travel. It was about how Lucifer and the rest of the cast are guided towards their respective outcomes. I do feel Trixie was sidelined big time but I'm chalking it up to unforeseen issues. @VaasMontenegro12
@VaasMontenegro12 2 жыл бұрын
@@matthowdy334 One reason the "we have to preserve the timeline" point was so important is that it speaks about the relationship between a parent and a child, when Rory was being taken back to the future she had understood why everything happened the way it did and was happy with it, she didn't want it to be in any way different, not for her life or for Lucifer's (becoming hell's therapist), Lucifer finally knew his duty and *calling* but it had to come at the sacrifice of having his daughter grow up with an absent father, which is something he definitely did not want to do, but when your child begs and pleads for you to promise to do something because it is what will make them happy, as a parent you cannot deny them, even if it hurts you, and I'm sure it gave him a new perspective and understanding on how his father acted. It hurts, but you have to do it, because it is what you have to do to make your child happy, and the child knows and understands that as well.

@@VaasMontenegro12 You completely misunderstood. I didn't say I don't understand what happened. I don't understand why write it like that... The sacrifice doesn't make any sense at all. Through out the whole series Lucifer has been learning and growing, so there was no need for a daughter from the future to make him realize this. Your analogy makes no sense, if anything its the opposite. Sometimes you have to say no to your child in order to choose whats best for them even if hurts you or your child at the time. That's the correct way to look at it and not promise them something just because it will make them happy, that just raises a spoiled child.

I feel kind of alone in my disdain for this final season. Personally, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Rory’s character, her inclusion and the plot points that followed (and drove the plot forward) seemed even more contrived than previous seasons were. Half of the problems we see in this season, namely Lucifer’s identity crisis (will he/won’t he be God) feels stale at this point when the entire last season was centered around his role in his divine family. Also, if the sixth season does exist in a sort of time loop as they implied, that takes out a lot of the free will element that was so heavily emphasized. I can accept that Lucifer got Chloe pregnant because he self-actualized the ability to procreate (I assume by virtue of his actual daughter being present, thereby giving him the belief that he CAN reproduce), but that concept very quickly creates a causal loop. Time travel in and of itself is something rarely pulled off with grace in media, but to have so much of the show centered around the concept of free will, namely Lucifer’s free will, only for this season to take it away from the titular character feels, in a word, cheap. I liked this show for what it was, especially the era right before and just after Netflix picked it up. That was the sweet spot for me, even the stuff with Michael and God coming to Earth, it all felt like a natural next step in the show’s progression. What felt unnatural was Lucifer’s daughter from the future time traveling to force him to abandon his yet-to-be-born child so that she could even HAVE the ability to do it all over again. For what it’s worth, I’m glad Dan got a redemption in the end, that was one of the things I was happiest to see. But to be honest, this finale left quite a bit to be desired for me.

Agreed. I wish we could've gotten to the same ending without having Rory come from the future. Her screen time could've been given to a better villain (the final villain was awful too). I'm with you, I really really disliked it, especially Rory. I was excited when she appeared my mind immedtiely jumped to Jezebel or some Angelic being that's really deep in Christian lore. But my god she truly was so abnoxious it was awful. A lot of people in the Lucifer subreddit have already ranted pretty much everything wrong with her arc. And I don't know, the way the actress played her character was just kinda out of place and weird to me, it felt bad honestly I think it may just be a directing problem? Liked her singing voice though, it was nice. Rory's whole story was probably the main point of contention for me this season. I'm also not a big fan of Maze and Eve, they have little to no chemistry to be honest. This will be a long but kinda nitpicky rant, just know it was unlikely it could have ruined the season on its own. Ok, so, Maze never felt like she was genuinely loving their relationship, like she was never living herself with Eve. It felt superficial like the creators wanted her to be a super-good kind person to "develop" her character and the way they went at it didn't click for me. Eve's optimism and borderline naïveté could have played well with Maze personality-wise, but in the end it fell flat. It wasn't bad objectively speaking, it just didn't garner any real enthusiasm from me. It just didn't work and the writers pushed so hard for it them to be the best coupl besides their main characters. Maze had more chemistry with Linda, Amenadiel, Chloe, Dan, Lucifer and especially Ben Rivers, the last of which I do ship her with and am still crazy annoyed that he never returned. And, just to play around with this idea, I feel like she and Remiel could have as least had some romantic moments, they had their similarities alongside motive differences which would have been interesting to see. A stiff militant angel and a party-girl demon (plus her insecurities) - both with their violent approaches to problem solving. Remy obviously was like season 1 Amenadiel without the weird history with Maze. Also I really miss Remy and Uriel, they were some of my favorites, maybe because they were played largely serious with the former being robbed of her screen time - I wished they gave her more of an identity besides "Amenadiel clone" too! Maze and Eve's wedding was pretty but I won't lie when I say I did squirm a little with how superficial and slightly idk, very slightly juvenile and kind of unearned, it all felt. Again, most likely just nitpick, they did spend a lot of time on developing it even though I'm not a fan of the ship. Man I just really missed the quality writing, acting, etc of season 4, it was so so good. This season definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Honestly it was a pretty good season, only two issues i have with it, the police scene where they pull their guns on the woman hiding along the car instead of the guy who put his gun down and put his hands up, felt like it was forced in to make a statement on cops being racists, which i won’t deny that bad apples exist but c’mon… and the second is the last scene, should of had Malcolm Graham there too, missed opportunity there.

Chloe is a human, to celestials her life is a blip. Chloe had things to do on earth to help people and Lucifer had to help people in hell. They both found purpose, and fulfilled them(Lucifers will just take longer). Lucifer missed all of those things in both lives because he grew to be selfless. His daughter personally asked him not to change anything, and since he’s grown so much he was able to do that. Usually he would be somewhere on earth being irresponsible, or in hell tormenting people. But he’s helping people make it to heaven, and at the end he gets his detective back. After all the 6 seasons of discussions about the free will, and Lucifer regaining control of his own choices, he ditches it all to be a slave of destiny because "that's what had to happen" and because his daughter wanted it all to happen exactly the same. 2. Lucifer should have been able to travel back and forth from hell to earth, he had his wings and there was no reason he wasn't able to do it. Amenadiel could and he worked together with the other angels, Lucifer should have had the same opportunities.

In the sense that time traveling was completely new to everyone, even Rory, and the final conclusion came from her seconds before she left. I'm happy the actors seemed to enjoy their time on the show, but I really wish they would have dumped the cop drama. I felt Ellis carried the show despite it limiting itself. I wanted the throughline stories to be the actual meat of the show, not just a side stories that got important towards the end of each season. Imagine if we got the arc of lucifer creating an entire universe from scratch and living in a better world than God had ever created in the entire DC multiverse. Having him have adventures with Constantine or the Endless? Missed potential. Too bad Ellis won't be in Sandman.

@Jessica💋 Sweety Hotgirl - Vlogs One of the best Lucifer comics I read as a kid doesn't really have a big bad. Well Lucifer kinda thinks there is one because Constantine tricks him into taking out a demon that had killed a friend of his. In that same comic there was a prolouge where John even tricks God. By telling him that if he dies and goes to hell like he is fated to, that he's not just going to exist in hell, he knows how to kill Lucifer. He plans to take over and then use the fact that hell hell has more people and demons than heaven has people and angels to dethrone God. And the Seer of all things possible is shocked for the first time in existence cause she see's there is actually a possibility that John will be able to pull it off. So God doesn't just cure John's cancer, he makes him semi immortal, so there is no risk of him ever going to hell or heaven. They did alternate earth versions and even had entire deleted episodes that they later released on this show. But they couldn't have given us at least 1 single episode where Matt Ryan got to fully guest star? Both Ellis and Ryan as we saw from Crisis have such great chemistry and you would get a great dynamic by having both be under the assumption that they can outsmart and lead the other.

I will not lie: I have been waiting for your review of Lucifer Season 6 since the finale dropped and was not disappointed. Would love a spoiler talk. I was not thrilled with the final season. It felt too contrived. It was a full, two-season story tucked into a single 10-episode farewell arc. While I agree with a lot of what you said gave it merit, and I do believe there was a solid foundation there, I think that every major storyline was rushed to its conclusion so much that it lost its progressive value. Amenadiel? That was quick. Linda? Where was her storyline? Ella? Contrivance in an episode. The ending villain? Good choice, but still thrown in largely by coincidence. Not to mention, Lucifer’s final decision? For an angel who lived his whole life in the name of choice and free will to be forced into such a monumental decision by this season’s contrived plot convenience? Despite the fact that I’m perfectly happy with the result of his decision, the route they took to get there felt like a punch in an unpleasant place… In my opinion, only Dan’s arc felt fulfilling, but that’s also because it was the perfect arc to span a single season. Everyone else sort of got shoved into their final positions very conveniently. TL;DR: good premise executed badly. Had this been two seasons, or even just had 6-8 more episodes to iron out the contrivances? I’d have been much happier. (My favorite season is 3, by the way.)

I agree. The episodes did feel rushed, but I think with filming in the past year it’s been harder to film because of restrictions due to the current state of the world. Basically, the crew had to work within a box and writers had to adapt as well. Compared to season 5, season 6 felt more rigid and not as climatic (to me) but the fulfillment was really from the characters having a chance to say farewell in not so many words. I will say, at the end of season 5 I kept asking, “Is Lucifer really fit to take over the role of God after winning a fight with his brother?” It seemed so against the ideology of God historically that I kept hoping Amenadiel would become God instead. It just made more sense… also, did Mazikeen become human because she “gained” a soul? That storyline I’m still confused by 🤔

Spoiler Alert: Man the ending made me break down emotionally seeing Chloe on her death bed and seeing Lucifer open his door and just the words Hello Detective damn near broke me lol when i started this show i had no idea it would end so emotionally, it felt more like a goofy fun crime fighting show early on and ended with you feeling so emotionally attached to the characters that you genuinely miss them after the final episode and it leaves you thinking about them.

I loved this final season of Lucifer. It's sad to see it end, but you are right, I felt very fulfilled with the ending. The thing I find strange is there is still a lot of buzz on line about "Will we get a season 7?" Um, no. They wrapped everything up in a neat little bow. There's no place else to go with the show.

The final season was the worst of them. It really felt like it jumped the shark. The time travel, Ella's revelation felt like more should have come with it, and Adam....ugh, it felt like they just threw him in there to try and jump on the "trendy topics bandwagon". There were some great moments (which mostly came from Lucifer being devilishly fun), but overall I feel like they took a "fun" show and tried to make it a "powerful" show...and it just didn't work.

From what I know, Adam was only used and placed in this season for Maze's character to be able to recreate an iconic moment from the comics. This is what the actress said hinted at anyway.

I really thought they didn't think about bringing Adam correctly. I know the dude's not the best person ever, but as he said it himself he actually didn't do anything wrong. He was cheated 3 times, didn't eat no forbidden fruit, did what he was told, AND he didn't snitch on Maze. Also Maze, her whole relationship and ending with Eve feels like character assassination. Maze's stick was she has abandonment issues and because of it she runs away everytime anyone says something or do something even slightly not how she wanted. She never got past that, instead she desperately clings to someone that wants her, Eve. Eve's whole stick was she's the perfect lover. She's understanding, caring, and willing to sacrifice anything for her lover even her own personality. Instead of growing out of that and being herself and not just live for the sake of her lover, she became a bounty hunter like maze just so she can be with her. Like the scene where Lucifer broke up with her in the end, Lucifer needed to force her literally cause all it takes for her to go back to her addiction/lover is one "sorry". In the end, all the things that the show made Lucifer and Eve look bad is the thing the show made Maze and Eve try to look good. Also, Lucifer never said he won't see Chloe or anyone else except for her daughter. And why would he not?? He could just rent a hotel room or something and have fun behind his daughter's back, it's terrible sure but she asked for it. Other then that, the show is okay. Action sucks and characters still always choose to drink instead of face their problems, but it's cute enough and the actors make it work. Oh but Dan and Charlotte are still way too icky. Ew no.

Spoilers for those who haven't seen season 6 I didn't really like the whole time loop for Rory thing plotline. I felt Lucifer could've popped in from time to time. But they had to do the whole time loop close thing, and Rory decided to let her past self to suffer in order for her to close the time loop and for her to learn a "valuable lesson," or maybe so Luxifer could therapize her. I still think they could've done that differently. I don't like that after that whole time loop thing, Chloe couldn't be with Lucifer until she died. But at least the family is together in death. Maybe Trixie will join them later to. And at least the ending scenes felt like a proper conclusion

It does kinda break down when you think about it. I mean, he could always visit without his daughter knowing and finding out. Heck, he could be with her for a few more years what with babies not remembering the first few years. I also think the time travel came out of nowhere and they had nothing left so jumped on that band wagon. I did enjoy it though, and that's what matters.

That was my take from the finale, there's maybe 1 show in 1000 that sticks the landing, with such a good and fulfilling ending that you think "This was all perfect, I'd hate a repeat or another season somewhere down the line as this nailed it and wrapped it up perfectly." Lucifer was one of those one in a thousand that did it.

Looking back it felt like they didn't have the story planned out when they tossed in the idea of a time traveling daughter and Lucifer disappearing by the end. It seemed as though they just wrote themselves into a box and figured it out as they went along. Despite how weak the story felt at times I still really enjoyed the last seasy and I'm gonna miss this show. The final scene was perfect
