@@Jack-nj4grwhich in and of itself has potential to be funny, and is possibly worth mentioning if it wasn't fully obvious to everyone who watched it. i agree, the online culture of re-saying what happened in a piece of content is annoying as fuck, but as the phenomenon already exists at such a widespread level, you have to adapt to it and view it from it's newly formed paradigm - i.e. give some nuance to each situation and try to evaluate when it adds value opposed to deriving it. This comment is a net-zero imo, it doesn't add anything funny but it also doesn't do anything negative because of its characteristic of pointing out something that could've been missed by others, and that thing itself was funny. either you scroll by it without giving it a second thought, or you realize what happened and chuckle. nothing to get pissy about or reply negatively. if you were mad that the comment added negative energy into the world i feel like, ironically, your reply has done so tremendously more.

It makes me angry that they keep making fun of Ludwig's new friend that he made. They just don't understand. I have the exact same experience when I used to ride my bicycle every morning. I keep running on this guy at my spot where I stop to admire the city view from the top of the hill. I remember the 4th time we run into each other, we didn't even say a single word but we just immediately grab each other's balls and it escalated immediately to making love (missionary) and it was the greatest experience ever. It's just a very normal thing to have.

I actually don’t want them to being Tsung La (almost certainly spelling that wrong, sorry) on the the podcast. He’s a beautiful creature, uncorrupted by KZfaq, and also a special little offline interaction for Ludwig to have to himself. I’m an audio listener, but just wanted to comment that Aimen was right on during the whole queen portion. I feel like there was a lack of understanding of how much people dislike the monarchy given how recent colonialism has been (Kenya and Yemen in particular) as well as prince andrew. It’s a pretty wide spread disdain internationally. Also yeah streaming is basically reality TV lmao

Like I'm not necessarily thinking of every individual atrocity she made and weighing the options as I make a joke or laugh at one, but I think it's just very well understood that she's both done fucked up shit and is the figurehead of a fucked up institution. Personally, I think a lot of people can't actually name things Trump did wrong especially if not from American and same with Boris Johnson. But, if either of them died, those same people would still be celebrating because people have a general understanding that they are shitty.

@@ohioella I agree that the crown sucks, but the family is actually funded by their own portfolio. Basically, the royal family own like 2% of all of englands land, which is probably worth a few billion dollars, and that land makes hundreds of millions a year. But in order to keep their position as royalty they basically cede all of that land to the government. However, the government gives them 25% of the profits from that land; so TECHNICALLY, the government is giving the royal family money, but theyre really just giving the family their own money back. They actually give the taxpayers more money by ceding the land. Also the Queen was still old and cringe lmao

I think Aiden is right when they were talking about the Queen. There's definitely a portion of people hopping on the train to joke about the queen, but the majority definitely knows enough to have some sort of dislike towards the queen and monarchy.

I think Aiden has a good point about the people who made tweets with a modicum of knowledge about the Queen/monarchy, but MOST of those consumers (the Kardashian side, if you will) are just that, viewers. Hence why the tweets with digs at the Queen for Diana have big likes, but there's a smaller subsection of people making those jokes. The average mid-20s Royal-Wedding-enthusiast probably tweeted something like "Damn, the queen dying should throw some light on her atrocities/crimes", IF AT ALL they tweeted. Meanwhile, people on the more gamer/meme side of twitter are more likely to make tweets with easy jabs (queen go hell haha), seen through your average @hoodcomedy shitpost account or Pointcrow. Hence why Nick feels the way he does. The average person here might be likelier to tweet for lmaos and hahas, and it might be more like "Damn, the queen died? But i just called my girl and she says she's fine lmao."

I dont think most people know about all that. on the Hans thing, people on r/chess have since found old games of Hans were he played the same line Magnus did, and the variants he described in the post-game interview match those exactly. So the likeliest explanation is just that he got very lucky, but combined with some of his previous actions (as a literal teenager) some people saw that as being suspicious.

Just wanted to clarify some things about the chess drama for anyone who doesn't follow chess. There is no proof whatsoever that Hans Niemann cheated. It would be incredibly difficult for him to cheat in such a high profile event, there are metal detectors, live arbiters ensuring the gameplay is fair, security checking who can get into the playing rooms, and more. The argument that the prep was leaked is more plausible but also unlikely because magnus has a very close-knit team and no one would have any reason to leak. As for Hans cheating in the past, it's very important to note his age. He is currently 19. He cheated when he was 12 and when he was 14. Check out his post game speech if you want to hear his side of the story, it's super heartfelt. Magnus has stayed completely silent since the allegations. Hikaru insinuated everything and then said "I never directly said he cheated" and moved on with his life.

To Nick and Aimen’s points about the queen: most people learned about monarchies in school and were like “ok that’s weird shit from the past..” so most people have a baseline understanding of: “the queen is still a monarch, that’s shit from the 1700s, she is free range for jokes.” Whether or not people are referencing colonial atrocities or classist atrocities, everyone has a baseline understanding of why the queen can be ridiculed. She’s literally a MONARCH.
