The issue with this round isn't that Dina ran down the time in boxing, it's that the referee stepped in multiple times for prolonged periods without actually starting a count, or starting one very late. More than that, he actually started a fourth and supposedly final 8 count at the end of the final boxing round; he just dismissed it because he thought it was past the clock. Overalls, great match up between Dina and Botez, but questionable step ins by the ref.

12 seconds left in boxing round 3, he clearly steps in as Andrea is pushing forward when they weren’t grappling at all, separating them, giving Dina time to move run and recover for really no reason. Small mistake, but changed the entire outcome unfortunately.

Why’d they say 5 second left excitedly if the start of the count didn’t matter, surely at 1-9 seconds left Andrea COULDNT have won by TKO if he started a count and it just didn’t matter to the outcome, bc he literally started a third count in one round and a fourth overall, both giving it to Andrea.

Literally this comment right here. Everyone is malding over Dina running down the clock as if Andrea hadn't done the literal same thing in the chess round prior. To me that's just kharma. People saying the count needed to be finished, for the first 2 counts definitely, but the 3rd count should have been automatic stoppage as it's the deciding TKO even if there was literally just a second or 2 left on the clock. There are fights on KZfaq where the 3 knockdown rule is in effect and upon the 3rd, the fight is immediately called so given the precedents, I think Botez won. But it is what it is, they both did well and well done for stepping up.

This is being upvoted heavily but inaccurate. The traditional "3 knockdown rule" is pertaining to 3 knockdowns in a single round, with there commonly even being no limit to total number of knockdowns over the course of an entire match. It's easy to not know which way is up with regard to this event especially because there was a very casual approach to rule enforcement and the logistical procession of each match.

The break ups were at 43 remaining and 13 remaining. A total of 37 of the 90 seconds were wasted due to stoppages. The ref didn't start counting the final standing count until 1 second remained, which is probably why he didn't announce a TKO. Yeah I'd think the ref was instructed to protect specially Dina as everyone knew Andrea would roll over her.. I know everyone wanted to see a fall but in all honesty, it would have been wrong to allow Dina get KOd cold.

Refereeing was a little suspect all night, I don't know how these creator events source their refs but it really needs to be improved. Other than that though, great event. Big props to the crew, commentators, crowd and competitors!

Only problems I saw was the FAR too early stoppage on Lawrence, and this absolutely shameful third round. This ref needs some caffeine, and the first one needed a xanax.

This dude wasn't a ref before this he was a pro chess boxer which explains why he was so bad

@@TheChronboy420 exactly, I think that's the problem. He didn't get paid obv, but he wasn't qualified for it. Wasn't that likely it'd turn a match around, but sadly it did

As “responsibly” drunk (amateur boxer) watching these watching these walkouts, the gloves, off?? Into chess. “We” are in the alternate dimension. The boxing…jab, overhand 2x, 3x, for Andrea 🎉🎉🎉
