Both my parents died in 2002 when I was 17. I joined the military and did several tours in Fallujah, iraq with the Marine Corps infantry. I just found out yesterday that my wife is pregnant. I'm now 36yrs old and would give anything to be able to give my dad the news. I've listened to this song 20 times tonight and I can't stop crying. I haven't cried in almost 20yrs. It breaks me down when the boy in this song is going off to war and he's scared. So was I. And now the part when he says "I cant do this on my own" is how I feel right now.

I deployed to Afghanistan on a combat tour in 2010. We cried our eyes out on the phone the day I shipped out. He told me he’d always be there no matter what. My dad passed away in 2016. Hardest days of my life was saying goodbye to him. I took care of him by myself for 6 months and it broke me badly to lose him. This song sums up my entire life with my father. As someone who deployed to Afghanistan in 2013, and the Middle East in 2015/2016, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do. Your music got me through a lot of tough times on deployment. Every time I hear this song, the memories of saying goodbye to my boys when I left for Afghanistan always come rushing back. They were 6 and 3 at that time. I said it before, and I’ll say it again, thank you for your music.
