This footage was from their first ever appearance on British TV in January 1975, shortly after their debut album release in late 1974, so yeah they are all between their mid to late 20s here and had not yet adopted their signature Biker Leather look, but were still sort of in hippy mode with their wardrobe and overall appearance. The legend is that Halford "borrowed" his own wardrobe for this appearance by raiding his sister's closet (who at the time was married or at least engaged to bassist Ian Hill, although they divorced in the mid-80s - Halford got his original audition to join the band based on her recommendation).

Judas Priest has been around a long time, formed in 1969. Rob Halford is one the great vocalists in metal music. They just released their 19th studio album. Technically the name of the song is a two song combo - Dreamer Deceiver/ Deceiver

Fun fact, this was a last minute performance, and they really didn't have performing wardrobe at the time, so the singer, Rob Halford, borrowed one of his sisters blouses. No wonder Lulu liked it, lol. Read that in Rob's autobiography.

Judas Priest was a fairly new band from Birmingham, UK in 1975 when they appeared on the BBC for this live performance to promote their 1974 debut album 'Rocka Rolla'... and also performed the song 'Rocka Rolla'... ("Dreamer deceiver" and "Deceiver" appeared on their 2nd album 'Sad wings of destiny' in 1976) At this point, they looked like 70's era Queen meets Lynyrd Skynyrd 😂 The band was: Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing (guitars), Ian Hill (bass)... w/ (late) drummer John Hinch... It was obvious that Rob Halford was gay even back then w/ his style looking like Liberace... Even when he started wearing black leather and metal studs in 1978, he admitted getting the outfit from gay S&M shops in London and looked like Glenn from the Village People... he was openly expressing his sexuality onstage. He was just not encouraged to 'come out' in those days because Judas Priest had female fans and he was the singer... When Halford came out in 1998, he was relieved because it had not exactly been a well-kept secret... and he was thankful that heavy metal fans were so accepting because when he was growing up in Birmingham, that could have ended his life in the UK in the 60's. Judas Priest debuted in 1974 w/ the album 'Rocka Rolla'... it wasn't a commercial success in the UK and their label at the time was not equipped to promote the band widely... Guitarist Glenn Tipton had just joined the band in 1974 and he immediately saw the band's vast potential... Tipton basically took over the leadership of Judas Priest w/ guitarist K.K. Downing and the 2 did most of the music from then. However, Priest's 2nd album 'Sad wings of destiny' in 1976 was another commercial failure... and the band was considering breaking up under financial strain. However, 'Sad wings of destiny' sold decently in the USA and American label CBS Records quickly offered Judas Priest a new contract in 1977 and brought the band to tour America that year after releasing their 3rd album 'Sin after sin'... Judas Priest developed their sound and image in the late 70's.. toured Japan in 1979... and broke big by 1980 w/ their 6th album 'British Steel'... looking more like the heavy metal band they are today.

Listening to Judas Priest from their earlier albums and on, you can hear the progression they are going for in each consecutive album. With all of the bands that they are competing against for album sales, they needed to up their game from album to album to generate excitement for the next one. I love their pre-metal sound of the 70s.

Rob Halford had that full vocal range going on .He could really hit those high notes and hold them. Very much higher and you probably wouldn't be able to hear it!😂

For a long time my favourite band (though that's currently Nightwish), and I finally got to see them live last month. Rob's in his 70s and can still hit those notes, though he is careful not to push his voice so far these days - he uses an effect to sustain long notes, which he makes obvious by taking the mike away from his mouth when he finishes singing so it's clear he's not trying to "cheat". _DD/D_ is one of my favourite songs; I'd love to be able to sing it, but there's no chance even shifted down an octave.

Heavy Metal as was 1st written, this is classic Judas Priest, 1974, average age of the band was around 23 approx, 50 years ago, and today, their new album, it`s mind blowing, great reaction, couldn`t have picked a better song from Priests debut, i think the tv show was called The Old Grey Whistle Test presented by a legendary Radio DJ Bob Harris. 🤘

If you haven't heard Dimash yet, you've denied yourselves, bigly, & for long enough. He is a vocal master craftsman w/ a measured range in excess of 6 full octaves. I recommend his rendition of "SOS" or "Olympico" for starters. He is, quite simply, the best vocalist who's probably ever lived, in the opinion of many.

I absolutely love that video! I love Judas priest. They are one of my favorite all-time bands. He is one of my favorite all-time vocalists. You did a video from Five Finger death Punch a while back and you liked it. There's a song that Five Finger death Punch do that Rob Halford from Judas priest also sings in. It's called "Lift me up" You really should listen to that. And if you want their fastest hardest most technically hard to sing sean. You want to hear Judas Priest's Painkiller. Thank you ladies for another great reaction.

I have this on a Dvd with extra material, i think this is the earliest recorded show with them. This song on the album is fantastic with dual singing tracks. Poor Rob wanted to have hair like Ropert plant in Led Zeppelin but he started to loose his hair early. Rob is a better singer though...Dont get me wrong, i love Robert plant but he has no way near this woice Rob has. This show i think they refused rto play playback and the equipment at this studio barely managed to play this music at this time. As always u guys Rock
