Today we are unboxing a Luminox watch, and not just any, but a Bear Grylls Master edition.
When I reviewed the Colormark Navy Seals model, I initially liked it but got a bit disappointed with it so with this I am going the other way around, expecting the same light feeling and a bad bezel action. we'll see if it can change my mind!
This is just an Unboxing and first impressions with a real review following after I spend some time with it.

Debatable... The heaviest Mudmaster is still hardlex... This one here is sapphire...i dig gshocks too but this seems a bit better constructed

i own some of g shock .. suunto .. and a few luminox watches .. take from my 40+years experience of life g shock can take a hardcore beating till the end .. this is because i use every of my watch to the fullest of it's inches and my suunto and luminox always let me down .. but this g .. u all know the rest .. it's for zombie apocalypse watch .. tough and hardcore ..

I have never seen a Luminox quartz movement hit the second / minute markers. The most shocking thing is, Luminox company didn't even bother to send you one which hits the markers for review and sampling! Gosh! Or was it because they couldn't find one and this is by far the closest they could get? If this is the best piece sent for review, imagine what you get at the watch dealer. Ronda movement is crap; you could see the second hand ticks in shaky, weak strokes. Luminox quality control is non-existent as well. Luminox should see how a Casio G-Shock and Seiko quartz tick.

Both of my quartz Luminox watches the seconds line up great. As do the bezels. IDK where you people are getting these watches. They are quality pieces.

@@jamisgood21 Luck is with you, congratulations! Then again, buying a watch shouldn't be all about luck. I suggest you visit the stores which sells this brand and take a look at all the different pieces of Luminox through the window display and display shelf.

since it seems to be battery powered it is useless because it can die during an adventure. it should be solar powered.

Not really. You wouldn't be doing battery intensive work with a watch in a survival situation unless it has sensors.

@@traviswalker8933 you don't know how much battery life you have with sensors or not! They just made another watch without any "survival" gear exept that cheap compas! For that price they could put a solar power, anty magnetic protection, battery power reserve, etc ... absolutely nothing special in this watch but just Bear Grills branding!

I’d like to see this up against something like a Rangeman or high-end Mudmaster. For the price point, not seeing a real advantage over similarly priced G-shock offerings.

The strap on my 3051 BO snapped within 2 years and with minimal use. (A couple of days a month). It was a nightmare trying to find a new one.

Yep agree Gwg1000 mudmaster is a soo much better choice..i own the 1A3 variant and havent wear anything else on my wrist since the last 3 weeks that i own it, not even all my divers that i loved so much before 😪😪

Victorinox are definitely nice watches. But Luminox also has nice watches. I have three of them...they are all quality pieces. And I also have some other very high end watches too.

I have had a bad experience with two cracked leather strap and no response from luminox and/or their agent in South Africa.

Great video mr watch geek👍🏼,I’ve got a luminox so called navy seal or should I say what left of it😩when it finally gave in got a Casio with a 10 yr battery and five years in it still going strong,it did cost me a massive £18 British pounds the luminox was £250,so it isn’t a case of you get what you pay for 🤨👍🏼

I've had this watch three years worn in an office environment. It stopped working so I sent it in through the warranty service. Come to find out there is only a two year warranty on these watches. The repair guys quoted me about $225 for a complete movement rebuild. Again this was worn in an office environment. If you're looking for a rugged watch I would carefully decide on which brand to choose.

I love the orange color paired with the black, but the face is way too busy and as others have mentioned, you can get the original Rangeman for less than half the price and the new GPRB Rangeman for about the same price, and both of those have better features.

I love Bear Grylls. But he should´ve made a partnership with Casio. But since he was wearing Luminox a lot before the partnership, it makes sense.

Depends, sometimes they are loaners I have to return, sometimes I have to send them to the next reviewer and sometimes I get to keep them and sometime I am offered to buy them out at a discount. Unfortunately I usually end up liking those that I have to return the most 😂😂

Sadly that's as sensitive as I could set it, on camera the lume is not even close to regular lume, but in real life it is very good

Does it come with the Bear Grylls magnifying glass to read that small face? It needs to be a bit bigger. There are G-Shocks that don’t have all the features of that Luminox that are bigger. It should be at least a 50mm wide case. The compass looks gimmicky. Bear should have teamed up with Casio on a GWG 1000; it already has the compass feature in the watch, not a button-sized Little Tikes kiddy compass on the strap😂Thanks for the video. Don’t hurt Lumimox’s feelings too much.

Looks nice.. but does it have a cutting saw wire and a fish knife? Black on orange always looks cool together... looking forward to the big tutorial on this one... maybe do it over one of your delicious BBQ’s so it has that Grylls adventure side... to be honest I know very little of this Bear guy... Ray Mears is more me, we’re both fat for starters LML ;-P Have a great Sunday and hope all is safe at home with family and friends:)

Looks like a decent replacement for a G Shock. I really wish the crown wasn't orange, it makes switching straps a bit of a nightmare unless you have black, orange or a combo of both. Would have loved a more 'sturdy' looking stainless or PVD black crown to match the watch.

Cool video. Not a big fan of the brand and attaching the BG name to it makes it even worse, but that's not your fault, haha. I do like tritium watches though. Please have a look at the Traser brand if you ever get the opportunity, they are one of my favs. Cheers mate.

Damn! Thats a good looking watch but holy crap! It's too expensive for what you get. I'd rather get MRGs GSTs or Highend GShocks or Solar Seiko Chronos than this. I don't understand why Swiss watches always impose exclusivity and high costs to their watches when they are all inferior to every Japanese watches. Let the GS Springdrive movement vs the highend Rolex movement be the example.

I had a few carbon fiber 3000 series about 20 years ago with screw down crown and case back (still working). The Luminox of today has lost its way.....

Not for me! Don't like the color and it's too busy. I have the Sentry which is fine but I don't usually wear it because I normally wear my Timex Ironman as a beater that have served me well.

In my opinion, 1. Look cheap and plasticky maybe because the plastic body case is not shining. 2. Look rough and not smooth finishing to the dark gray watch case/body. 3. The rubber strap look tough and stand out due to the bright colour. Its nice 👍🏻 4. The watch face is too crowded and detail time telling is a bit difficult. 5. I like the way the company (Luminox) appreciate their customer by giving small gift when purchase their product. 6. Overall look rugged and promising. But is it actually tough?

Not a chrono of it cant measure fractions of a second is it? Just a second hand with a button, this is basic stuff but the whole idea of a quartz chrono is laughable, get a mecha with 1/4 seconds or even better a real high beat with appropriate second divisions,(so not a Daytona then, 1/10 marked , but 8bps!)

We can always count on G-Shock fanboys to demonstrate their hatred and frustration on videos regarding Luminox. We can clearly see that Luminox watches intrigue and interest them since they are there and take the time to write. I have owned high-end watches from both brands for several years. Here is my conclusion: My Luminoxes are infinitely more beautiful. Much more precise and so much more comfortable to wear.
