Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival Master Series watch, made in collaboration with survivalist and TV personality Bear Grylls. This particular reference 3749 comes on a textured bright orange rubber strap, and a black rubber strap version is also available (Ref. 3741). The 45mm case is made of Luminox’s proprietary Carbonox material, which is a carbon compound that allows for an extremely durable yet lightweight wearing experience at only 98 grams in total. Inside is a Swiss-made Ronda 5030.D analog quartz movement which offers the time, date, and a 12-hour chronograph with a split-second function. Water resistant to 300m, and topped with a flat AR-coated sapphire crystal, the dial uses self-illuminating tritium gas tubes on the hands and hour markers for easy visibility in darkness. The uni-directional bezel has a protected tritium gas tube lume pip at 12 o’ clock as well. A small detachable analog compass affixed to the rubber strap rounds out the package. Pricing is $890 USD.

I've had this watch three years worn in an office environment. It stopped working so I sent it in through the warranty service. Come to find out there is only a two year warranty on these watches. The repair guys quoted me about $225 for a complete movement rebuild. Again this was worn in an office environment. If your looking for a rugged watch I would carefully decide on which brand to choose.

@@jan490 ahhh i see.. i just visited luminox store. It is so luxurious i think. They sell it for 900$, but i found 700$ in online marketplace. Think im gonna get it for my birthday 😂😂

Don't like how the extra strap length sticks out ... ruins the look for me? I wanted this type of band but I think this might cause me stick with a bracelet style band so links can be removed? Anyone else notice this? When you look down at your watch you the the end of the band sticking out.

I can not recall ever seeing anyone wearing a luminox. I see lots of smart watches, G shocks, a breitling and even a couple of rolex watches too.

I have a scott casell and a f117 luminox, they are nice watches but groselly over priced. you are paying a lot for that "swiss made" stamp

@@ROrneli That is a nice time piece. I have gravitated to the GShocks over the last few years. I wear a GWM-5610-1 one right hand and a fitbit versa 3 on my left. I like the look of some of the luminox.

Way too expensive for what it offers. The G-Shock GWG-1000 Mudmaster goes for about 750 USD and is a beast.

Battery last 50 months unless you use the chronograph a lot.

Lol 520£ not even a solar powered ! You can buy Master of G- Premium Mudmaster Gwg 1000 for 495£ on watch shop UK .Space shuttle compare to this one .

the only tool in this watch is bear grylls. For the money i could get a mudmaster gwg 2000 or several other survival watches from Casio and citizen. that do much more for less money.

Nice price drop now 30% or more cheaper now. Sapphire crystal, Rhonda Swiss movement, tritium tubes and good looks. Its a good deal now - Luminox is a Swiss brand. Can't compare with Casio, no Tritium tubes, movement that keeps time badly and only expensive Casio has sapphire crystal.

nothing you said makes any sense: -"No tritum tubes" no but it has a light button , tritum can be fragile and come off during impacts . I have two luminoxes btw . a f117 and a scott casell. -keeps time badly . most casios in this price range are either atmoic, blue tooth connected or gps connected . it does not matter if the watch gains 2 seconds a day it will adjust automatically 3 times a day. yes rhondas are pretty good at keeping time but it wont beat an atomic piece. -ONly expensive casios has sapphire crystals" same with luminoxes., all the entry level noxes are mineral, you don't see sapphire until way later in the 600 range.

@@ROrneli This watch is excellent at the current lowered price. The point is what other watches with Tritium tubes, Sapphire crystal, good design, durabilty, Rhonda chronograph, 300m water resistance are there on the market for this price? Yes, a $600 Casio will have other features, but for what this Luminox is, at it's current lower price, it is a good product.

@@RK-zo9vs my biggest issue with this particular nox is that it is pushed as a survival watch but the only feature that can be useful in survival is the analog compass.. Also it has a 3 year battery. What kind of survival watch has a battery that lasts 3 years ? It needs to be solar or have a 10 year battery like the scott casell. Sapphire is pretty standard with kost watches at thisnprice range

We can always count on G-Shock fanboys to demonstrate their hatred and frustration on videos regarding Luminox. We can clearly see that Luminox watches intrigue and interest them since they are there and take the time to write. I have owned high-end watches from both brands for several years. Here is my conclusion: My Luminoxes are infinitely more beautiful. Much more precise and so much more comfortable to wear.

Bear Grylls fanboy watch. I rather have a G Shock on my wrist when in a survival situation. Solar powered and a strong backlight instead of those weak tritium tubes that get weaker over the years.
