So here is my follow up video on this LUMINOX XB.3781.KM
There is no way anyone can review a watch properly without spending time with it, and I mean at least a month plus. In this time I really wanted to understand what these LUMINOX watches are about, also how they live day to day using them as intended. I've become very used to the tritium gas tubes that glow continuously which has to be one of the best additions to any watch, as the visibility is always there. The watch has been one of the most comfortable I've worn, and not once have I wished to remove it off my wrist. The durability is incredible and it still looks good as new almost, and the only signs is on the stainless keeper.
I'm also very impressed with the movement, as it has been most accurate with only loosing 3secs a months if that, plus the seconds hand on the chronograph is very aligned.
I have nothing negative to say, and I'm now hunting for one of my own it's that good.

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman That's very kind of you!! I will certainly give it a go, I do generally like the designs of their watches and as you say they haven't really been given that much of a platform in the grand scheme of things compared to many other brands. What I think people as you rightly pointed out make the mistake of is the quality of the movements, due in part to a misconception on price, there are two versions of this movement, one manufactured in the US made of Swiss parts and is 5 Jewels and costs about $35 and the Swiss made 10 jewel version that costs roughly $65, sounds cheap however compare that to the likes of the Seiko NH35 (made in China version) which you can pick up for $20 and less found in pretty much every microbrand, to the Seiko 4R35 (original NH35 made in Japan) for $60 found in all Seiko's now above £350/£400+, or even the Sellita SW200 which can be bought for $150 which can be found in the IWC Pilots watch for £3,990... Will likely be after Chrimbo/in the Nude Rear due to the Tiers and stuff if that's cool with you Mr WU6-R?

Great video, again far away from a normal watch review. You explained very good, what Luminox is, and what could be reasons to buy it. They are expensive, but when you look at the movement, the materials and the tritium light, nothing of that is cheap. Luminox is cool and I like that you gave the watch a chance. The watch deserves it.

Hey buddy, cheers for the feedback :) If I had this watch for a shorter time without really testing it, then I would never live exactly how tough it is... on my Fenix 6 Pro the bezel has some marks now, yet the fibre composite case still looks new... I feel for many that the weight of steel equals more value, but what they're not realising is that carbon composite is much harder to make and for good reasons. It's still expensive, but breaking it down starts to make sense, and going more into details on build this LUMINOX is flawless especially on the dial... the hands are cut and finished without any rough edges, the print is sharp and this alone shows it's made to an extremely high tolerance. The movement in my opinion is a great choice, and I would say that it's probably more Swiss Made than some other big Swiss brands with regards to the percentage side. I would love to tour their factory and really see what goes on, and also to see RONDA. This follow up video really needed to address all the thoughts I had to explain what this LUMINOX is made of.... am still a G-Shock nut through and though, but am now looking to add a LUMINOX in my collection. I will package it soon and send it off to Watch Crazy, as he really does go more into the history side, also into other areas that never get covered, so am looking forward to his thoughts, but he'll need to wear it like I did to really understand. It did become my daily watch for nearly the whole time with it... you can see me wearing it in my click bait McDonalds video with the chip ramp, and the most I wore it without taking it off, including night time was just over two weeks, and not once did it make me feel uncomfortable, so is this because of the genuine rubber strap, so guess good rubber adds cost too??? I also like the fact that I wasn't blinded by branding, as LUMINOX to me isn't a brand I would place in my watch brand list, so to me has that dark side that isn't a common brand you see worn... in fact I've never seen anyone wear one on any of my watch meet ups or watch fairs, so I like that :)) Cheers!

I have no idea why LUMINOX didn't reply to me, even on Facebook??? Mind you, I've not had any watch companies or suppliers contact me for a while now, usually I have a few asking me to review their watches... but I've decided long ago to keep my content to what I like to see and experience, and it was an honour to experience a LUMINOX... I will add one to my collection without doubt, and sometimes things never seem to add up to the cost, but upon this one I have a better idea than compared to how BOLEX gets away with their crazy prices just over steel :-P I'm trying to get a response from Accurist, even by phone as I have some questions, and feel the video may just include this side of ignoring me... so have asked someone else to see if it's me, but they're ignoring them too... sometimes it's more than a watch, customer service plays a huge roll, and I guess sometimes it's worth paying a little more for that side... I will video this soon and cover that in my WUP69 kind of way LML :-P (without getting arrested of course) HaPpY Weekend and hopefully catch you guys later.... sounds like an interesting topic :)) Cheers for the feedback and support my friend... btw, your cheeky wrist shot videos are a nice touch, like that :))

It's a very strange one hey... it's like how do you justify cost in such a watch... It has become one of those watches that wants to be worn... I don't have hesitation to choose it, even if i've worn it all week... it goes beyond my expectations... the quality on the dial is flawless, you do notice the attention to details, subtle but precise... I feel the balance of the looks contribute a lot too... it just looks good at every angle. Thinking of any watch taken apart and laid out in front of you, with case, dial, movement, crystal, case back and strap, along with the screws and crown/stem.... now do this for all watches that are within the same price bracket and imagine it that way? I can tell you that mostly all the watches I've seen like this really shows the spread of worth, and seeing a BOLEX watch spread out with its price tag is the biggest joke of them all. The Breitling compared to my Citizen Meca-Quartz is another fine example, what are you paying for??? Hands on is the only way, but these LUMINOX's are made for proper outdoor activities, and don't think of the plastic as cheap... I'm hoping Watch Crazy goes more into carbon composite, it's this side that makes most of the watch. Cheers

It's the only review where I needed more time to really understand why a few dislike LUMINOX... my opinion is that there are many fakes out there, and if you land one of these, then it ain't gonna be the same in quality and build. Yeah, I like LUMINOX and I really like the RECON model as it features an alarm :) I like the carbon composite, and also with temperature changes this is better over steel, and it doesn't heat up either like steel :) I guess those who own and use these watches are in another category that don't care about the latest craze and fashion, they just want a solid time on their wrist! Would you say that the movement would resist impacts and rough treatment? One of the reasons I have my g shocks is when I do things that sends vibrations or I could knock my hand somewhere, I feel confident it won't hurt the movement or the delicate pivots of the gears since its all stepper motors pretty much. Would the ronda take well a hammer drill for a few home improvement projects or maybe a weed wacker for a while?
@WatchUP69MrRangeman
@WatchUP69MrRangeman 3 жыл бұрын
Great comment firstly :) Now the gears on the movement are metal, and think about the ratio on size, and if you scale it down those gears are massive to the load it can take through shock. Unless you remove the watch and thrown it off a tall building, it'll bear anything your bones can take. LUMINOX states they are shock resistant... now in my review I really did give a good bashing, and that part with smashing it into the tree was repeated about ten times... I had to cover some of the knocks on the tree with fresh moss, so it looks like I'm hitting it from fresh. The RONDA movement is an excellent choice, and to me these movements are made entirely in their factory without outside involvement, unlike Sellita that's 60/40% of secretness :-P I'm impressed with the one I had, and when Watch Crazy does his review you'll have a full open view upon it. I don't know why the hate, but those who use them as intended aren't soft users, they've bought it for their toughness and build, and carbon composite is a material that I really didn't understand until I got more into the watch. As mentioned, there's many watches for the same price, even a cheap CASIO F type can handle shocks because of the scale of strength... it's like an Ant, it falls one meter and carries on walking, if that was me or you, we would be splattered... it's also like a spider web, we can break it, but in scale this is like carbon steel cable. The Tritium gas tubes aren't cheap, especially good quality ones, and composite fibre isn't easy like steel to produce, there's no junk used, even the crown has a rubber part for protection against side knocks. Under a loop, the build is flawless, and unless you really handle one, you can't judge upon a picture and price. Yes it's expensive, but it's a watch that's very well balanced... I would be interested how much without Bear Grylls name on it, as I feel this isn't needed, it stands alone like I said, and those who own them don't flaunt it, they leave that to the BOLEX owners :-P
@TT_R89
@TT_R89 3 жыл бұрын
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman You make really good points about the real mass that the watch has and how that would substatially aid to reduce the impacts that it could endure since it's so light. I do know that some of the higher end Quartz movements have metal gears and are serviceable so potentially this would add a layer of reassurance should something go wrong. Finally, that's what I have G shocks for too, so if I think I'll do something particularly violent I could use my Gs instead. Thanks, man... Good Video, Thanks, I've had a similar experience with the Casio GWR B1000 Gravitymaster, Also full carbon fiber, monocoque, at first it gave the same impression, Did I just but an expensive plastic watch that weighs next to nothing? After wearing it for a month now and knocking it about, it still looks identical to when I got it.. It's my first experience with Carbon but will not be my last.. amazing watch. The looks are confusing, If you don't know what it is you would assume it's a $60 watch.. but we know better... I've not worn a steel watch in a month 🙂 Thanks again for the great video..

"we know better" I feel you just summed it up, and that's the side I really wanted to express, that steel is the cheaper even if it looks more expensive... I guess value is based on weight, yet understanding the logics behind carbon composite makes the best sense. Nobody moans about the Garmin's being carbon composite, but use it on another watch then it becomes, cheap? far from it, and remember it's also better with heat transfer too :) I've got an interesting idea for a video in the making, and so far nobody has done it this way, and I feel this will really show which watches.... I've said enough LML :-P can't say anymore of that bearded Teller and the Rat will claim it for themselves LML :-P Cheers for the feedback my friend... HaPpY Weekend too :)

I just bought my first luminous watch I didn’t but the Bear Grylls version I didn’t want to pay $850.00 for a watch I did pay 380.00 for it. Now I’ve only had this watch for a few days now I so far I love it. I used to wear Timex watches but it seems in the last ten years or so the quality of there watches have gone down hill. I didn’t want something flashy either it looks handsome enough but not enough to get mugged over. I wanted some with band that wasn’t metal they pull at my hair which is annoying. Over the course of 10 years I’ve bought several watches of different makes and for the price I paid over 10 years I could’ve probably bought two of the luminous watches I have now. How will it hold up I can’t say at the moment . At the moment I’m extremely happy with it, in six months that might change. I hope it doesn’t. For me it’s like buying a pair of shoes do you pay a bit higher price for shoes which you have to replace in six months or some that will last you two years or more? I’m an avid hiker and believe in buying things that are tough and will stand up to falls, river crossing, etc I not a collector of watches nor do I have more then one but your channel got my eye. Great review!

Cheers for your comment my friend... now have you seen my SOTC video, this just puts one watch in the collection, but can see LUMINOX being that too. I'm just amazed how that plastic looking watch can be so addictive... and learning more about it just pulls you further. The watch world offers so much, there isn't a wrong or right, it's your free will to choose, as it's for you, and with LUMINOX, I feel this is a side that stays hidden in a different class... it's the no fuss class and it's about the watch not to, as I said in the video to visit the pub to dance your face off being a watch snob... It's pretty much like a VOLVO in the car world, you can't judge them and they have that mysterious side of not knowing why they are, but you don't dismiss them if that makes sense. I'm so pleased I had so much time with this LUMINOX, as time really does show the good and bad, and not once can I find the bad... I'm not a Grylls guy, so could see it without that advertising... but I see beyond that and if it's tough and reliable then that's its only job! Merry Christmas my friend, and thanks again :))

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman if I have ONE complaint about the watch it’s that the watch itself is a bit thick. Depending on where one wears it it can dig into the wrist. I like sleeping with it one but I find myself taking this one off at night.

@@kevinnorwood7355 I'm a 7.5" wrist, and for me I've not experienced any discomfort at night. I would suggest a NATO but I'm not so much into them, plus it makes any watch sit tall.
