I switched to a cup only a few months ago, and made the choice to take it to Europe, also to see my favorite band (Rammstein). Before these products, I would need to change a tampon every thirty minutes on heavy days. Thanks to a cup, I had a great Rammstein concert, exploring, hosteling, and travel. HAH! So Rammstein played in Copenhagen while we were there and we got on a bus jammed to the doors with people leaving the concert and when we flew to Germany the next day half the plane was Rammstein fans! I had an event that night or I would have tried to go! Looked like a good show. Cups DEF make concerts and festivals easier! -K

Just bought it. Bogo is still going on. Its 50 bucks, but I got 2 so good deal. I got m & l. Seems like itll work fine. I've used softcups for years and I'm glad to have found this reusable that is so similar. Ziggy didnt work for me, for some reason it was hard to insert and remove and the catch is small. I was gonna buy the nixit, I actually tried to purchase it but the site didnt work, but I'm glad it didnt bc I prefer this design. Thanx for the review of this product. Just a tid bit of info, when removing disks you dont want to pull down, you wanna go sort of up...basically keep the disk level and it it wont leak on you, as you remove the catch basin expands to hold all of the fluid, if you pull downward it will spill automatically. Just thought I'd share💐

I've been using the lumma unique for 3 months now and they are the best product I've ever used. If anyone is wondering about trying one, I definitely suggest trying it. It's a huge game changer! And a huge plus is that they have them in different sizes!

I bought flex disc and it's too big, constantly leaks and pops out from pubic bone. It's been such a pain really, hoping this is better since it's smaller.

Really wish I'd known the diff between cups and discs before buying my Lens. I find Softcups more comfortable as they dont press on your bladder so it is really cool that there's a reusable disc! Thanks for the review

Love my Lumma! Cups just don’t work for me after over 6 months of trying! I have the medium and large. Medium for lighter flow and I’ve found the large works better for heavier. I snipped off the string. It’s a bit slippery to get out at first, but once you bear down and get a good grip it’s easy! Totally recommend!

Is it really messy or just the normal messy that can happen with a cup also?

haha. It's real messy. I've never gotten blood on my fingers removing a cup but discs are a different level. I also can't use the "hook with one finger" removal method disc companies illustrate and have to pinch the rim. So it's a hands on process for me. And as you remove the blood pours out if it's full. I've also now twice dropped my disc on the toilet! I love how leak free and comfortable they are but I still prefer cups because of the possible mess I face each time I remove. Emptying and cleaning in the shower is a huge help in this regard. -K

I took both the medium and large as well, started with the medium. I'll keep the large one untouched until after I have a baby, I bet stuff will change down there after that and the bigger may be a better fit. XD

I bought this after watching your review and I absolutely love it. I was using the flex disc and kept experiencing leaking and didn’t like the fact that it wasn’t reusable. On top of that it was B1G1 so I couldn’t resist. I did have to cut the string, that wasn’t comfortable for me but I think it’s a great idea. The removal process was actually easy and way less messy than flex in my opinion.

I have loved the soft cups they were the first “alternative “ menstrual type I’d used but I’m trying to decide on a reusable one. I like the look of nixit but it’s pretty expensive.

The Lumma is closer to the Softcup in terms of firmness, Nixit is softer. I just learned that Lumma is having a shipping price issue on their website but once it's fixed I believe they do come out cheaper than Nixit FWIW. Plus we have a coupon code ;)

I have a lower than low cervix, heavy flow, petite, and most cups even small ones are too long for my body. I purchased disposable Soft Cups and I'm using it right now. Wow discs are so much easier than cups! Comfortable and no pain! Insertion was super easy~! I purchased two Lumma cups from the website on BOGO and I'm excited to try it out my next period~!

Thank you for sharing this. I love your story of the concert. That is the ultimate trial for the disc. I have purchased the cup and the other discs to try but have been too chicken to try it. I think it’s because it is a little difficult for me to remove. The insertion is very easy and comfortable. But taking them out is a task for me. But with this one having basically a “string” to help remove....may work better for me. I may have to try this one 😊 Thank you again for sharing this.

I'm very excited to try out this product! I have struggled with cups and have been trying the disposable softdiscs which are working for me. I love discs. Cups have never been comfortable for me and i've tried a few. I almost gave up on reusable period products until I got the nixit. I recently ordered the lumma to try so that I have another disc. I hope it works as well as the nixit has for me!

I'm a bit of a believer in the "don't meet your heroes" philosophy but since I had won this he was kind of forced to be nice. Not that he isn't nice, but if I happened to run into him on a bad day somehow in the world and said hello, if he had been rude or mean I'd be devastated. I'd hate to ruin my life's obsession! So this was the perfect way to meet him again . Since we already had tickets the tour manager hooked me up with 2 tickets for the Charlotte show instead which was also extra nice of him. -K

The old mansion in Chicago? Yeah that place is gorgeous! I heard that he is opening a new location for his teahouse in Chicago (Madame ZuZu's) and something will be announced very soon if you're still living there. I never had enough money for the CD box set of TAFH but a few years ago for Xmas my husband gave me the vinyl set. I was pretty sure I'd marry him back in the day also!

I never had luck with menstrual cups but this disc is my new ❤️! Thanks to your video I was able to position it perfectly and had no leaks and wore it the full 12 hours. For me the medium worked just fine for high cervix location even though large is recommended. Thank You for this review.

@@o0mochacheena0o No,I have no trouble at all. I am always able to reach the string part of it and I can gently pull it out. At this point in my life, with extremely heavy flow, it has been a complete lifesaver! Maybe try bearing down while reaching for the string 🤔 .

I'm brazilian and here the lumma unique are a huge success, I have a medium one and I love it. In my last too cicles the cups wouldn't open and I use only my unique and I haven't got any leeks or discomfort. I really recommend if you're having difficulties with the tradicional menstrual Cup.

OOOO! I like that this comes in sizes! When the instead cup first came out I was SO disappointed that it was MUCH too large. I would be interested in trying this one if I ever started menstruating again.

I haven’t been able to use menstrual cups because I’m just too tight down there (never even used tampons) but I was able to comfortable get a disc in after failing to use two different brands of menstrual cups, so I’d recommend them for anyone who has trouble getting anything bigger than a finger into the entrance of their vagina

I'm on day 3 with mine and I am never going back. :O I've been trying menstrual cups of various brands since 2010 (four years with an IUD - but that's still six years with the cup!), and they ALWAYS leaked, no matter what I did. I tried different folding methods, different brands like I said, professional advice, nothing worked. They would always crawl up from where they were supposed to be, towards the cervix, causing a leak. I was not too optimistic this time around, thinking if this doesn't work, I'm just gonna have to move on to cloth pads in combination with the cups. But IT WORKS. :O Not a single drop leaking, in three days. There is a bloodbath when you remove it, but it doesn't bother me at all. I'll just never have to think about it again. No leaks, no pads, no paper, no washing underwear. (Also, period sex!) What I find shocking is that no one invented this thing earlier. Contraceptive diaphragms have been around for a century or more, and they have the same basic shape and function (covering the cervix and keeping something from going out or in).

Yep, my cup is great for the day but leaks at night. I've had better luck with a disc at night but it's not 100%. I just got this diac recently but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Fingers crossed!

Right now they have bogo! I got 2 for the price of 1 and I’m excited to try them. I’ve had a ziggy that I used for 5/6 cycles before I got pregnant with my second and I’ve had 2/3 cycles pp and it’s slips and leaks 🤦‍♀️ hoping this brand will work better.

I just got this disc and as a woman who keeps long acrylic nails I love it. Seating it was easy, the removal was a dream. If you were used to tampon strings the pull string is easy to ignore. Didnt try for mess free activities

Can you empty this cup by bearing down while the cup is still in? That’s one reason I really prefer discs over cups. I only take it out twice a day no matter what! It’s great!

I'm really excited to try this. I have a problem pelvis, lol. It's platypelloid so very narrow front to back and I cant fit the softcup /instead, it will not stay behind my pubic bone. Maybe I could actually use one of their small ones. Otherwise I'll just stick with cups they work fine 😉

I got to meet Billy Corgan at the Music Midtown concert in Atlanta when I was 17. I got to hang out back stage and I wound up chilling with his dad off the side of the stage as they played. Honestly his dad was may more personable than Billy himself. Billy refused to even speak to his fans as he walked past them... instead he simply put his hand up to say no. 🙄 I was kind of annoyed having loved Smashing Pumpkins since I was very little. But its cool. Maybe he was having an off night. There were so many other awesome artists I got to meet that weekend too (Music Midtown is a weekend long concert with tons of awesome bands). I met and had lunch with Jack Johnson (love him!!!), met Paz from a Perfect Circle (but she was playing with Billy Corgan at the time in Zwan), I met Ben Harper, Amy Lee, Seether... and other less important musicians lol.

I wasn't even suppose to be backstage... my boyfriend at the time had won the "Battle of the Bands" with his band Skerv... so as the winners they got to play Music Midtown with all these major bands. The security and other band members took pitty on me because I was 8 months pregnant at the time and it was HOT - middle of summer! So I wound up backstage where it was nice and cool, plenty of free water and food! 😁 I was a happy happy girl! Lol

I have three different cups. None of them have worked perfectly every time and I’ve been trying for over a year. I’m about to switch and try discs because now when I try to use tampons it’s very uncomfortable now. I can’t make the cups work and I almost gave up. I’ll give the discs a try before give up and just... bleed.

They had a buy one get one free deal going on so I decided to get a medium and large, since I wasn't sure what size was right for me of those two xD Hopefully they work well for my next cycle! Been looking for a cup alternative since I find a lot of my cups to be uncomfortable and haven't found the right one yet, but the Saalt Soft I got recently has been working pretty well as far as leaking and cramps.

Update to this, tried the medium, no leaking, easy to put in and take out (just messy 🙀), it a can be a little uncomfortable to go pee because it pushes on that part and it feels like I can't fully empty my bladder. Otherwise works well! Will try the large next.

They must have this "buy one get one free" deal pretty often, cause I just did the exact same thing you did, bought a medium and a large to see which fits better =) I have only tried one cup but it's too soft and it flips sideways and of course that means it leaks. I'm hopeful that a menstrual disc will help me get rid of the leaks, I don't mind the messy removal as long as I know I won't need to wear pads. And also I don't wanna try a thousand cups before I find the right one :)

@@SVETLANA_NICOLE The pandemic slowed the delivery down, I got the disks only a few days ago (i live in Eastern Europe). They don't come with the silicone case anymore, they come with a little pouch made of some textile material. I put one disk in boiling water with salt for 10 minutes, but it still has that smell of chemicals used in silicone, which I don't like at all - the cup I used before had no such smell, it actually had a pretty pleasant perfume. I tried it on just so I could see how it fits, I don't feel it at all inside and it seems to go in and come out easily. I'm waiting for my period now, and this better not leak because it cost me 15$ more than it should have because of border taxes.

I used to love discs but after I had my son I can’t get them to stay in, tried the disposable and the ziggy and they just kept slipping out and leaking. Also I’ve noticed my cervix sits much lower during my period now than before having my son. Currently trying to find a cup that works, the saalt almost works but is still just not quite right.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but my problem was making sure my cervix was IN the Lumma Disc!!!!! I have figured out that I can't "just shove it in and back" as far as I want. I can do all that random shoving I want, but my cervix will also just be pushed back/slant and not be in the cup. I kept just pushing it back, hoping everything was good, but then I felt extreme, painful pressure against my pelvic bone and it would leak. I was so pissed. Problem? My stupid cervix was behind the cup pushing it forward. I didn't figure this out until near the end of my cycle, but once I figured it out, I didn't experience any leaking at all and no more pelvic pressure pain. I really had to feel around and make sure my cervix was not behind the cup but IN the cup. When you insert, try pressing it downward and back, then feel around "inside the cup" to make sure your cervix is in it, not behind it. Hopefully that helps, I'm excited for my next cycle to be 99.5% successful! Good luck.

Hello. I'm looking at your video toooo useful. May I ask you a question? I'm Asian in my 20s. and I have a low cervix of 4 to 5 cm or less. I use 'femmy cycle - teen size' and 'EVEcup - mini(bell shape with tail)'. Both are manageable, but not entirely comfortable. The tail comes out, or femmy cycle sometimes feels like the cervix enters the cup and pulls it down. I decided to find a new-shaped menstrual cup because I felt that the back of the cervix was longer than the length from labia. So I got interested in menstrual DISCs after watching your KZfaq. And I bought 'ziggy cup' and 'lumma unique.' Today, I got a ziggy cup first, but I'm worried. it feels longer than I thought. >> So I would like to ask your opinion: Do you think menstrual discs would be suitable for women with short vaginal length but long back of the cervix? P.S. Thank you for reading me a long story. I am not good at English, but I hope you understand.

Got the size medium and it leaks loads for me. It stay in place so no idea what’s causing issues. I think I’ll stick to cups.

I bought menstrual discs back in about 2009 but they were just so intimidating I never used them. They were disposable. It's interesting that they didn't catch on sooner. They look just like a diaphragm to me.

I struggled with my Diva at first. I kept leaking with the fold method. I actually let it pop open barely inserted and push it up into place. It's a little uncomfortable but not painful. I never leak! Except overnight so I'm trying disc's now.

Hmmmm, that's interesting! I have tried the disc but I can't get it to work. It's like it's too big. I would be interested in trying the small or medium. Just thinking about it, I couldn't hardly use most tampons as they seem to long. The Playtex is what I usually use. I did get a femme cup and I tried it again and I just don't really care for it. I got a few regular cups and I want to try those three next time, I should get it very soon. With that said, I'm a bigger person so I'm kinda scared that I won't be able to use it. I'm working on losing weight but it takes time. So depending on how the other cups work, I'll try this.

I think the mail in general is slow right now with everything going on. I had a package show up almost two weeks late recently even though it had been shipped and was in my city. I’d give it a bit more time.

I feel like the flex disc didn’t fit me, it was always leaking and just popped off my pubic bone. So maybe a softer rim or a smaller cup with work?

It could. I had the same experience with the Nixit - it just wouldn't stay tucked and I could feel that it was a length issue. -Amanda

I also tried the disposables, they would not stay tucked. I ordered a nixit thinking it would be ok since it is softer. It also would not stay tucked. I then got the Lumma in medium and small. They are absolutely perfect for me. So, if the disposables are too big just go with a lumma medium or small

I am a new fan of the reusable, new to me, products. I wanted to try Ziggy or Nixit but the price was more than I wanted to pay. I tried Flex, but that is more expensive in the long run. I see this rainbow one now and it's hard to find. Maybe now I can try it.

I recently used the Soft disc and LOVED them! I have never been able to use cups because they seem to migrate and become unreachable. I loved the disc because I felt like it had “landmarks” and was easy to locate and couldn’t go anywhere due to size. I don’t mind the firmness of the rim. I would like to find a reusable disc that is as close to the soft disc as possible. Which would you recommend? Thanks

Lumma large would be a good start for you because the size is similar to the soft discs and it's firmer than the nixit and ziggy.

I love the Instead/Flex, but not buying them every month, so I bought a Ziggy. The Instead/Flex fit, the Ziggy was too big of a diameter. It's so close, but it's slightly bigger. I need a medium or even a small Lumma. But I swore I was not going to spend any more money on products for a while after the Ziggy was so disappointing.

Hi, unrelated the video but I'm trying to decide between the organicup (size s) , lily cup one and lunette (s)... It's gonna be my first cup, and I think I need an average length (maybe a smaller diameter bc I'm a virgin?) and a cup that's quite soft but still pretty easy to use for teens and beginners. Do you have a recommendation? Thx very much :)

Lunette is on the firmer side so if you think a softer cup is going to be more comfortable for you I'd rule that out. But in my experience, starting with a cup that is average in firmness or even a bit firmer is better when you're new to cups because the cup opens easier. Of the two remaining I'd lean you towards to Organicup, the Lily One is quite soft and may not open as easily as the Organicup. -K
