Luoyang was the capital of China for many dynasties, going right back to the earliest parts of history. In this video I look at the Sui Dynasty, a period when much of the culture that would characterise the Tang stated to take hold.

As always your videos are very interesting especially because you witness the ancient places of China by your visit and descriptions. I would only add to your topic that during Sui dinasty the system of exams emerged and the designation of officer ranks for the first time in a old document was found (for XIUCAI rank). I went there a few years ago and went to the night market on the main street where you walked for the video. It was amazing. The food and vendors were incredible. I bought a jar of delicious handmade hot pepper sauce, which I rationed for as long as I could because it was so good! The stall had thousands of hot peppers hanging to dry.
