This narration video is quite the thread. This is a story by Jess Zafarris about Lurchers. Similar to Wendigos, or Mimics they are some creepy things trying to lure her to her demise...
Story belongs to her, I'm just narrating it. Show her some support through these:

My biggest gripe with these horror stories is they always start off as if they're a true first person telling of events but then they always ensue into writing that feels like it's from a novel, I just feel like the writing could be more natural and fluid rather than stopping to pull up fancy adjectives and adverbs every sentence

The weird part about this is that I swear to god, I recognize this Jess, but i know it's not the one I know. My aunt's name is Jess. Well, Jessie, but everyone calls her Jess. She looks almost exactly like the Jess in the story, and they act similarly. They even owned a house close to a lake, though my Jess was right on it. Just a whee bit uncanny.

I will say the story is great, good monsters, and good character development. HOWEVER, I feel like there is unnecessary detail in the surroundings for getting chased by an ancient or extraterrestrial creature. It makes it feel less grounded, and more like a sci-fi book being posted bit by bit on twitter. That's just my opinion tho

Seems it has to be done in that specific way tho Like the victim has to be immersed in the lake (mentally, not physically) in order for Johanna to take their place Judging by how the lurchers act They don't target anyone but their chosen victim unless it's Johanna taking their place in this ritual Hell it may also be what lets her come back, potentially the creatures giving her another chance due to her selfless act, and they don't mind if she re does it over and over because the price is still payed, even if it's the same sacrifice over and over

I really like the story and the idea behind it but the way it was written kinda bothered me for some reason. Like, it's not bad by any means, if anything the thing that bothers me is the fact that its way too good. It might just be a preference thing but like, they're clearly a writer (based off of the language they use and the fact that their username has an ad for a book they wrote lol) and that's all fine, its just that to me hearing the way they describe stuff takes away a lot of the realism and emotion from it (even tho ik its fake, obviously). It's prob something to do w the fact the story is on Twitter, so it kinds feels like you're talking to a friend and then they go like "yo the craziest thing happened to me last night. I was deep within my sleep, unnaturally heavy under last moon, as if the darkness itself held down my eyelids and engulfed my mind in misty numbness. Then, as if manifested from a void beyond my mind, I felt a chilling touch upon my forehead, pressing against me like cold, almost frosted needles, startling me awake. As I desperately looked around my darkened room, sweat blooming from my trembling skin, I caught glimpse of a figure the instant before it vanished into my closet, leaving behind a trail of wispy cold. Confusion quickly gave way to terror and I froze in place, yet the thing never returned. The next morning, as I went to use the bathroom, I looked upon my own reflection, only to see a dark purple print in the middle of my forehead, right where I had felt that morbid, frozen touch. Shit's wild, right? Lol". cuz it feels like they were writing this for a book and not a Twitter thread by someone traumatized trying to vent their trauma with something they can't even fully grasp A good example of of what I'm talking about is this part here: "I don't usually just drop off to sleep sitting up, but I haven't had much sleep and suddenly I was just... the chill blackness pressed in around me - a deep, endless, lonely dark - palpable silence broken again by something just beyond my hearing. I drifted toward it, dread roiling in my gut because I knew that the vague, garbled thrum would coalesce into an all-too-familiar death rattle" Idk, I don't wanna sound like a prick, just wanted to share my opinion. I do really like the story tho, it's good and ofc that her being a writer means she's good with pacing, character development and all that. I have some other nitpicky things with the story too, like the one post where they were thinking about names for it that kinda sounded like they were talking about a dog they just got rather than a pair of beings double their height that smell like death and rot, mimic the sounds of their victims dying to lure out prey and are actively stalking them
@NateAtNight17
@NateAtNight17 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I definitely agree. It feels more like a story written for a book and less for twitter. She sadly stopped using pictures and video which I find helps in a twitter story to give it some more realism.

The information that she dabbled in the occult too is interesting...her being referred to as a witch-it explains why she knows so much, I suppose. And could also explain her...immortality? Though the fact the son of Edward, who had insulted her, later "drowned" is odd too, unless coincidental...why would the lurchers target someone who'd insulted *her*?

@@NateAtNight17I think it's the ritualistic way she gets killed and taken by the lurchers, notice how she trained the protagonist to be able to immerse themselves mentally in the lake without physically going to it I think that's what allows her to repeat this cycle, she simply takes the physical price while the mental price of fear, grief, and dread is taken by the original target Hell it may even be the creatures that bring her back again, their intentions being a reward for performing such a selfless act, just Johanna chooses to keep doing this, the creatures don't mind this because the price is still being payed, even if by someone's selfless action being repeated However Johanna's sacrifice may also artificially extend how long the creatures do these killings as while the price is payed, it may not count for the overall price the lurchers believe humanity needs to pay, this price only gets payed when Johanna is unable to intervene

I mean i really liked the story until it turned into some sort of kinda meh written creepypasta regarding watchers who live underground and a witch helping people sacrificing herself but still not dying… im not saying it was a bad story but i just feel there is so much wasted potential here that could have been turned into a really frightening skinwalker tale that shouldn’t have explained anything at all - also those things being afraid of fire, living or being held under a black lake while also getting described as still needing to breathe and being easily able to be distracted by some shiny coins is just really really corny imo - heck im going as far to say this tale would have been better and more original when the threadwriter would have experienced this stuff over a couple of weeks or days and just decided to move out with her husband instead of turning this into some sort of low budget paranormal adventure which unfortunately many stories that start out great end up doing half way through them… trying too hard just sucks - still, nice video and presentation

I liked it, honestly, to each their own with their horror! I totally get feeling like the story took a turn for the worse, because the beginning was definitely like primal horror stuff with the encounter in the clearing, but I liked the turn it took. I guess I just like my horror a little more.. personal? I really liked that they were guardians of the land, and got angry that the land was damaged, like, they can still kill you, but they aren’t mindless, just like most nature. I also liked the character of Johanna, even if she was a bit cliche, I still liked her personality, and the addition of her as another, opposing supernatural entity was cool. Idk, maybe I’m just a wimp and I’m drawn to feel-good happy endings, or I haven’t seen enough horror to be tired of this yet, but that’s my two cents.

Every time I listen to these stories, I think of something, and it seems to prove my point of what it is until it proves my point in a different way but this time I knew what this thing was like, but there was one problem with the one creature I’m thinking ofsome of you may know him SCP 096. It reminds me so much of him the way their body is shaped in their mouth. The only thing that is off is she has looked at their faces before and they haven’t gone completely mad and there’s two of them.

I absolutely cannot stand stories where the main character has no agency. "Oops you saw the monster, now you're fucked because you're magically forced to feed yourself to it or become it" theres no growth of the character and literally nothing they do matters or makes me like them when its obvious that they have no impact or control in the story

yea, when its written like a novel, and not a real person who just experienced all this horrible stuff, it kind of takes away how other twitter threads seem like real people are experiencing it in real life.

As a Native American I would like to say we are tired of people using us to demonize others. NEWSFLASH Native Americans stole land from each other ALL THE TIME🙄 my family and I talk about how ridiculous people are calling people that have nothing to do with the founding of this country "colonizers" no one alive today was part of colonizing anything 🤦
