This story was so great, the only thing that took me out of it was him staying at the house even AFTER seeing the eyeless girl. Like its just so unrealistic, WHO WOULD DO THAT?! Maybe it would have made sense if he atleast asked a friend or something to come stay with him

I theorize the woman is actually his aunt. He never mentions having one and Greg's mother has a strained relationship with her father. I feel like she's hiding things, because of trauma and to protect him. I feel like when the woman was offered up as a sacrifice Greg's mother saved her and the community hated this so her father moved away with her. The woman was left behind and lived in the house and the woods, learning to survive on her own because the townspeople would kill her if they saw her again.

I wish this story was updated. It's been so long T_T

its weird in the beginning the woman seemed liked the enemy but turned out she was just wanting to protect greg weird how some stories make it seem like one person is scary and the villina but really isnt

Very well-written, polished and professional. Don't get to see that too often. Let's hear it for Lovecraft. Reading a new book, "The Mammoth Book of Folk Horror". Much in this vein.

The true horror in this story; microwave oatmeal. 😔

The protagonist is the kind of person who makes every possible mistake in a horror story yet somehow isn't killed off right away. The sigils made of twigs are either a curse or a ward. Burn those right away, greeat iiideeea. Spending the evening outside on the creepy property near the lake, in the dark. Filming the creepy eyeless lady standing in front of your house for longer than a few seconds. Not bringing at least one friend or relative to the house. Didn't just go to a hotel after the night of the first creepy visitor. Don't get me wrong, the story overall has a nice creepy vibe to it that I enjoy. But the protagonist is a poorly written horror protagonist, or at the very least a dumb and terribly lucky one.

Plot twist. He was a sacrifice and he died in 2020

This was my FAVORITE unfiction series for a long time, until they got to that ending. They really screwed the pooch with that ending. It went from "something is horribly wrong with this town and there's a creepy eyeless bald woman after me, help I don't know what she wants..." to literally the next post being, "Oh hey I had a lovely visit by that eyeless lady, here's a college essay length exposition answering every single lingering mystery you wanted to know about the series. Thanks, Auntie Eyeless!"

I remember first getting Twitter and following this story as well as TSV and himarymary. Was such a slow burn, till it wasn't, but really good! I kind of had an idea that the OP's grandfather was involved somehow, but we didn't get an answer for that.

The subject matter was great, sadly the protag was written to be unbelievably stupid (like most horror movies/stories to be fair). So I'm just going to assume it ends with the weird ass cultists digging so deep for his eyeballs that they accidentally get his pea-sized brain too.

Even before it was explained what they were, I felt like I recognized those sigils, more specifically their purpose, but couldn't put my finger on it. I also somehow knew it was a bad idea toburn them, but I wasn't certain as to exactly why they should stay.

I kind of wish this story didn't involve a lore conversation with the eyeless woman instead of him figuring out the talismans kept him safe from harm via like, setting up trail cams out of paranoia and seeing something in the treeline halted by them. Her just chilling in his living room and explaining everything took a lot of mystery out of it for no real reason but to rush to a conclusion asap. It might have made for better tension and confusion if he only had evidence second hand that she was trying to keep something dangerous away from him for her own unclear motives, like yes, you're helping me in this moment, but I don't know if it's out of kindness or for your own means that might not be completely benevolent? Having him watch this unfold in privacy would also leave him to draw his own conclusions, correct or not, instead of having the context for her actions spelled out. I'm only nitpicking because I really liked the sense of isolation and dread and mystery the story set up, if it was a bad story I wouldn't care if the payoff wasn't that good, but jeez 😐 I think whoever was working on this reached a point where they just wanted it to be over and done with.
