Björk is a bi woman! So I have always read Venus as a Boy about finding that male lover who loves gently yet passionately like a Venus. His sensuality, even with a woman, takes of this more feminine energy as opposed to this more masculine domineering sexual energy.

Listening to Bjork’s entire discography chronologically is literally life changing. I can’t recommend it enough!! It’s also really cool to have the context behind her albums like Vespertine being entirely produced by her and including so many microbeats she created and biophollia being part album part educational app. Bjork is truly one of a kind 💖

"Oceania" makes more sense when you realise it was commissioned for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games & represents the transition from the previous event in Australia (aka Oceania) in 2000. Bjork performed this 'live' at the ceremony in an Iris van Herpen outfit inspired by water (a motif Iris still uses to this day). Standing at one end of the main oval, her outfit slowly flooding the entire arena, over the heads of all the athletes, in one of the largest swathes of undulating fabric i've ever witnessed on earth. I swear it was so huge you probably could have seen it from space ^^

I agree with all the comments suggesting Hyper-Ballad. But you need to react to something from the Homogenic album as well… it’s considered by most to be her masterpiece and is considered one of the best albums of the 90’s. Also, shoutout to the guy who suggested Unison. That song is so under-rated.

Agreed, was bummed not to see a reaction of Bachelorette, 5 Years, Hunter, Joga, etc from Homogenic. Definitely my fav of hers, followed by Vespertine. I saw her live in February do her Orkestral set, and she did six of the songs from Homogenic and it was ethereal! I can't un-hear her live version with the full orchestra! I think this KZfaqr would be blown away by Mutual Core as well.

On top of all that, Her MUSIC VIDEOS are perfect Visual Representations of the Music and Lyrics. Other Songs to Listen: - HYPERBALLAD - HUMAN BEHAVIOR - PLUTO(which leads into) ALL IS FULL OF LOVE. - DULL FLAME OF DESIRE (Which is taken from a 19th or 18th century Russian poem) - JOGA - BLACK LAKE - VIRUS - LOSSSS - ARISEN MY SENSES

Before you even said it in the video, I was thinking about how your musical tastes have expanded since I started watching your channel. Loved this reaction and how Björk challenges her listeners. I feel like as an artist, she's one of the people who inspires across mediums (I'm a writer myself). So cool to see how these different discoveries might come into your own music! AND I hope you revisit Fiona Apple!! Now that you've done Björk and Aurora, there's no way you'll find Fiona Apple as weird anymore lol 😆 Also you MUST listen to Joni Mitchell at some point. Iconic. And maybe Joan Baez? I wouldn't call either "experiential" really, but they definitely inspired a lot of these more modern experimental singer-songwriters. And just on your own, you might like to check out the other version of Blissing Me with serpentwithfeet. I think I like that version even more than the one on the album haha

@@Luscent My favourite album of all time is BLUE - lyrically, it's just immaculate. When it hit its 50 year anniversary recently, there were a bunch of musicians who gave an oral history to the New York Times about how much she and that album mean to them. But what's beautiful about her career is that this "classic" style of hers - really straight-forward folk - gave way to the most insane experimental and jazz style. Her entire trajectory was unpredictable.

the songs off medulla, oceania, were all done with voice, beatboxing, choir, throat singing etc. theres nothing like it. in Oceania she is like playing the role of the ocean, as something that is so ancient and playing with the idea humans evolved from the seas. And if you like the glitchy vespertine stuff she worked with the avant garde duo matmos for that. Her live concerts are also incredible because she recomposes all of her songs. A lot of the instruments from Biophilla she designed or programmed herself, definitely can go into a deep dive with all these pieces. ~also this and the other video doesnt have anything from Volta which is a fun album, a bit poppy since she worked with Timberland of all people!

Björk is such an amazing artist! There's so much of her work to dig into that's it's hard to recommend singular songs to check out. She's a master of creating beautiful sound scapes. I agree with a lot of people recommending Hyper-Balad, it's one of my favourites. Possibly Maybe, Headphones (which is meant to be listened to in high quality headphones like yours), Ancestors (which features Tanya Tagaq an amazing Inuit throat singer). There's just too many to list. I was lucky and got to experience her exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in the exhibit there was a theatre with 64 speakers placed throughout and two screens on opposite sides of the room and it played one of her songs and she would travel from screen to screen and you could hear her and the instruments moving around the room, and you could go up to different speakers to hear individual elements of the music too.

being a living legend, she put a whole country onto the world map of music. she is synonymous for being icelandic. has anyone else ever achieved this? no. there are some other really good artists out there, for example susanne sundfor, anna von hausswolff

You'd enjoy Bjork's episode of MTV Unplugged. She understood the assignment and took it to an extreme. She had a stage full of multiple separate bands with no duplicate instruments and no instruments that needed amplification beyond a simple mic

Such strange choices as introductory Bjork really! My Bjork recomendations would be; aurora, joga, headphones, big time sensuality, all is full of love, Isobel, I miss you, hidden place, play dead. But i love your reaction vids. brilliant!

You should DEFINETELY reaction do some joanna newsom... she's a marvelous songwriter, like no other really. Ys is probably her most interesting album on a lyric level, it has only 5 songs, but they are quite long but it would be SO NICE if you could react to it!!

The myth says Unison is actually written for Lars Von Trier. It's was Bjork's break from hating on him (after filming Dancer in the Dark, that is).

Oceania is her singing as the ocean, how every living thing came from her..."Your sweat is salty, I am why..." bcs her salty ocean water!!! Medulla is one of my fave, the whole album used only human vocal sounds; a cappella, beatboxing, choirs!

Been watching your reacts for awhile I enjoyed the Hyperpop, Rosalia and this video, not sure if you have already but you should react to Grimes, her albums Halfaxa and Visions are honestly iconic, especially when she wrote and produced everything herself in both albums. She’s a true pioneer in experimental electronic music. Keep up the good content 😁
