Vulnicura is Vespertine's dark twin. Where Vespertine is all about falling deeply and madly in love, Vulnicura is all about love's unraveling and undoing.

and i love how some lyrics intertwine, like "I love him, I love him, I love him" in Pagan Poetry to "Did I love you too much?" in Black Lake
@beatrizortega17125 ай бұрын
Considering that both albums are about the same person in Bjork's life.... truly devastating. I can't listen to Vulnicura because it's so intimate that I feel like i'm invading her emotions

If I remember correctly she arranged the strings on Stonemilker all by herself, which is mindblowing to think about. What sets her apart is her endless uniqueness and creativity, but we often forget she's also an excellently proficient technical musician at that.

Anohni's an incredible artist as well, she released an album this year named "My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross" which is absolutely incredible and devastating on its themes. She also released an experimental album around the time of Vulnicura, which is an outstanding one of the 2010s named "Hopelessness" with lyrics about our environmental collapse. You should check them out!

I'd also recommend the first Hercules and Love Affair album featuring Anohni. Very interesting and groovy. I think my favorite Anohni song is "Hope There's Someone". That song destroys me.

Yeah, her albums back in the 2000s are also beautiful, with “I Am a Bird Now” being an outstanding chamber pop record

What’s also interesting is that the entire album is chronological. She starts with the communication problems and the first cracks showing, then the final time they touch each other, then the break up, then the falling apart of her life etc etc

StoneMilker , History of Touches, Notget, Black Lake, Mouth Mantra. She started collaborating with Arca on this album and their unapologetic creativeness, mutual love of music and self expression helped them form a genuine friendship that seamlessly flows into Bjork's follow up project , UTOPIA (2017). 💜💜💜 Utopia is My personal favorite💜❤️💜 Which is the next step after A Breakup (Vulnicura) new sense of self discovery and What new adventures lie ahead, all the while, still processing the breakup & pain that's gotten you to this next phase in life.

My favorite album of hers. You saw the perfect point of the strings on this album, hadn't thought of it that way before. There's a podcast on Spotify about the production of Vulnicura and Björk also has a podcast about each album. I recommend the Mouth Mantra remix with Haxan Cloack and the strings version of the album! 💚

"Vulnicura" is a neologism of Bjork's, that stems from latin: _vulna_ - wounds, _cura_ - cure.

HOW did you not cry on history of touches? Its been almost 9 years I hear this song and Im still cry everytime. Can you imagine having sex with a person knowing this is the last time? Its a nighmare However, this albun is composed in time, so, we have first song = 4 months before breakup, second song = 3 months before etc, and family its the breakup itself. Thats why theres the “space sound”, because its finally over. Then we go foward with her, one monte after break up, two months and so Its an incredível journey and hits very hard when is your heart that is broken

Mouth Mantra, I want to remember Björk talking about how this song was about her issue she had with her singing chords, She underwent an operation which could have made her loose her singing abilities, she was not allowed to talk or sing for a while when this was going on.

You know when Bjork makes a breakup album, it's going to be devastating. Black Lake is insane. I saw Bjork live on the Volta tour and she had the entire theater sobbing and holding each other. It was the best concert I've ever been to. There is no comparison. She was using the ReacTable Synth on that tour and it was so interesting to watch them use it live. The had the table projected on a huge screen.
