Welcome to Hobbit Knoll- a luxury Lord of the Rings hobbit home located at Treehouses of Serenity! This place is 10 minutes outside of Asheville, North Carolina, and sits on a property with 5 other treehouses.
90% of this home is built into the earth and is considered to be an earth house. The attention to detail and craftsmanship in this space was very impressive. There is Lord of the Rings memorabilia scattered all throughout the 800 sqft of living space.
Complete with incredible mountain views right outside of your front door, there are also 2 handmade round doors, an indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit, a Smart TV, a large kitchen with tons of free snacks and goodies, and much more.

I think they had appeal to the many and not the few.... your fantasy of what it "SHOULD" look like may not actually work for the budget they had... try to be a little more flexible.

Lord of the rings fan 100% My home is yellow and wood just like Bilbo Baggins' home. I live in the swamp area of southern Louisiana. I'm also thinking about building a hobbit style air bnb on the back of my property. Love it!!

It's a lovely location. The wood carvings and the doors are so well done, but I think this place is missing all the British antiques and clutter that would actually make the inside feel like a hobbit hole...someone spent a lot of time at Home Depot instead of junking.

This is amazing in parts, but the kitchen needs a stove top, a small two burner would suffice. This is just an idea, a hot tub outside with those views, would be Hobbit Heaven ☺️

The little Hobbit House is really cool, but why is it furnished with modern apartment type furniture? Kinda blows the whole ambiance thing.

I noticed that, too. There are some pieces that fit the theme (like the hall tree between the closet and bathroom doors, and the kitchen table) and some that are more modern (the living room furniture). Some, like the bed frame, are kind of a compromise and still work within the theme. NGL, the WC and soap dispenser in the bathroom are the most jarring, but maybe the owners had to use them for code reasons. I'm guessing it's partly what the owners could afford, since one can only have so many custom-designed things ... ? Overall, though, it's an amazing space, and the aesthetic as a whole is very Hobbity. :-)

There are a lot of memorabilia scattered around. I wonder how will the owner stop people from nicking them? For a normal hotel, if a guest took items from their room, the hotel can just charge the guest. But LOTR memorabilia are expensive. Some are one of a kind. They can charge the guest if the memorabilia are taken but what if its something that cannot be purchased again because its one of a kind and/or super expensive/rare?

This is a very great question! I think Airbnb and the price point on this place attracts more respectful guests vs. traditional hotel guests. Worse case scenario, Airbnb insurance policies are pretty extensive and would cover the hosts

The ceilings are too high, the interiors are too spacious, the exterior stonework are too matchy matchy. For a hobbit house, too open plan and not tunnely like in the LOR movies. Lacks the feel of being in a hobbit house, more like an ABB.
