I visited the stunning Lydford Gorge on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in the summer - one of several National Trust sites in Devon. The gorge hike was a relatively easy walk, but afforded stunning views including those of the pretty white lady waterfall.

Thank you for the video. They were Brown Trout. There is no such thing as brown salmon. There will be the odd Atlantic Salmon that runs up the Lyd and potentially some Sea Trout that are Brown Trout that migrate to see and return to fresh water. You get those for sure in the Teign and Dart. If you’ve not done Fingle bridge walk along the Teign and past Castle Drogo, that is a brilliant walk.

Hi Philip, you're most welcome 🙏 That's so embarrassing that I mixed up trout and salmon 🤦‍♀️ but thank you for confirming the fish, I'm awful at correctly identifying wild animals, yet always fascinated by them. I've done a quick Google image search of that walk and it really does look spectacular. Adding to my list for whenever I make it back that way

Another great video! We find your content so peaceful haha. That toastie looked amazing 🤤 Had no idea you are a secondary school teacher - I’m a primary school teacher (it’s Emily ☺️)!! I’m so glad the bats are getting back into that cave. Also today after that storm right last night it would be great to go in an see if there’s any of those wild river fish! We did that hike in Bedgellert also 🙌🏼 thanks for another great vid - catch you next time! ☺️

Hi Emily and Tom. So pleased to hear you find the videos peaceful. I know much of the content on KZfaq is super fast paced and it's what's popular, but I prefer to slow the pace and I always feel like it reflects the slower pace in nature too. So cool to 'meet' a fellow teacher come KZfaqr 🙌 If you're also starting a half term break, enjoy it!! ❤️
@EmilyandTom
@EmilyandTom 2 жыл бұрын
@@WhenAdventureKnox For sure! We really appreciate the slower content - also isn’t that more realistic!? But I guess we fall into both categories some times on our videos, I’m not going to lie 😂 Yes, so lovely to “meet” you virtually ☺️ Hope you have a wonderful half term also!! Get some hiking in, in this nice weekend weather!!

Very enjoyable video guys with top notch production. It's a shame you couldn't go to the Devils Cauldron as its a lovely part of the gorge. It's quite tricky to get to though especially carrying all your filming gear. 🙂🙂

I didn't feel like we did Dartmoor justice so it's a place we need to go back to (at some point) and hopefully the Devil's Cauldron will be open this as it sounds like we missed a special part of it! :( So pleased you enjoyed the video and thank you for your kind words about the production of it!

Another lovely place I'd not heard of before in Dartmoor so thanks for introducing me to it! Don't blame you for having a go on the zip wire, I do the same when I'm catching up with my nephews - it's always important to check it's safe before the kids get on it! 😬 That's got to be the ultimate spot to stop for a drink at the waterfall - amazing views and no queue?! Thanks for the National Trust information at the end, £120 sounds like a great price if you can use it for the whole year! Another excellent video.

Haha, yes, no queue, unlike Snowdon peak, and I know which view I preferred! You'd be perfect as a teacher, we all have that same mentality when there's something fun we also want to take part in 😉 We've had the NT memberships for coming up to 2 years and despite lockdown, in both years we've managed to get more than our money's worth. Some places are around the £20 mark, so it can work out very well, and I find the places to be so well kept, the volunteers are always lovely and as a contrast to when we go proper hiking, they feel so civilised with cafes and toilets 🤣 Very pleased I've been able to introduce you to a place in Dartmoor you didn't know about previously!

I get so many comments across so many of my videos that I keep pronouncing place names wrong, I think it's going to sadly become the quirk of the channel - but you've been the first person to let me know the correct way to say Lydford. I'd so pleased you still enjoyed the video despite my butchering of its pronunciation 🙏

Hi Khatoon. I didn't realise the gorge was the deepest in the south west of England - I'm now curious to know which is the deepest of them all in the UK 🤔 I'm sad that I didn't get to see the Devil's Cauldron that you wrote about as others have commented saying it's very spectacular! The UK does love it's Halloween, but I don't think we go quite as crazy as American's and Canadian's. Shortly after is the 5th of November, which we call 'Guy Fawkes night' and growing up the celebrations are very normal, but I imagine for an adult learning about it who didn't grow up in the UK, it will seem very strange. Interesting to know we share the same mothers day - I know it's different to the US, yet we share the same father's day as the US!
