When defense attorney Jesse Bright was pulled over in North Carolina while moonlighting as an #Uber driver, he began filming the encounter. Allegedly, he had been pulled over for picking up a passenger from a known 'drug house,' but that didn't stop Bright from continuing to film, despite the police officers incorrectly telling him that it was illegal to do so.

On a different note, my uncle who was a sheriff in Florida for 25 years told me that if a cop EVER takes you in for questioning, never, ever talk to them without an attorney present. to add to this, NEVER talk to cops, even as a witness to a crime, without an attorney present. even people who have gone in voluntarily to help police investigations have ultimately been charged with the crime itself because the police decided to be lazy and corrupt. do NOT trust the police.

It's essentially legalized robbery. It's a law where the police can determine (based on nothing but their whim) that some of your belongings have been involved in criminal activity. You aren't charged with anything, but your things are. and the money they get from Civil Forfeiture can be spent on ridiculous things like a Zamboni or a margarita machine... They just ask if you have money on you, takes that money and uses it to purchase toys. Based on nothing but their whim. They even stole a house, the son of the house was charged with possession and selling of drugs, but instead of charging the parents for being accomplishes, they charged the house and evicted the family. remember only the son was charged, no charges were levied against the parents, meaning they are innocent, but they were evicted regardless.

Just imagine what would/could have happened if he did turn off the camera. Or, he wasn't an attorney!?! Why wouldn't those officers want a citizen to record for his own safety? That is a scary scenario. OML !!!

Pretty sure that it is not illegal for the police to lie to you. I believe that the only time it is illegal for them to lie is when they're testifying and under oath.
@ppunion

@@timsfun6653 Actually the police is allowed to lie to you with one exception: They are NOT allowed to lie to you about your rights! It is difficult, however to get an officer in trouble for doing just that.

@@timsfun6653 Lying is one thing. Actively giving commands to a civilian that violate their rights and threatening them with arrest, jail time, and what was probably an illegal search as no warrant was provided and I doubt he had reasonable probable cause, should get that cop fired immediately. And even if officers CAN lie to civilians, this officer treating this guy like a criminal just because he was recording doesnt give him a viable reason TO lie. He just did it because he thought he could, and nothing would happen to him.

They are not "ignorant" because they know recording them actually *is* legal. They are maliciously making stuff up and abusing their power.
