Dr. David W Chang is a Professor and the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago Medicine. He is a recipient of the Godina Traveling Scholar Award(2005) and the Buncke Lectureship(2019) from the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery(ASRM). He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. He has been invited to lecture at numerous national and international meetings, while serving as a visiting professor at leading institutions all over the world. He has served on the editorial board of numerous leading medical journals including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He has served on the Board of Directors for American Society of Plastic Surgery. He is the past President of the ASRM (2017) and the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery(2019-2021).
He is especially well known for his interest and expertise in surgical treatment of lymphedema. Dr. Chang has been involved in innovation and popularization of microsurgical procedures such as lymphovenous bypass and vascularized lymph node transplants. His work was instrumental in introducing these microsurgical procedures to U.S. operating rooms. He is the Director of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Center of Excellence for Lymphatic Diseases.

This is so hard... I have early starting due to radiation that was not need to reduce a tumor, I have depression 😢because is no hope😢I call his office to at least get a consultation to have some hope but guess what I have no insurance I couldn't even set a consultation as a self pay appointment because is useless they couldn't do a surgery that could cost over 100.000.00 so they can't wase thier time on a consultation or treatment options, this is not a complaint I understand 😢 but it's just painful and I feel hopeless all I can do is pray for God to continue giving him more knowledge to continue blessing for the one's that can get some help 🙏 God is good and one we all will be heal 🙏

I have Primary Lymphedema. I'll check with my Kaiser Permanente Primary Care Dr. for a referral to microsurgery, l guess to see if they have these advanced techniques. Had debunking operations in the past. No lasting improvement. I'll be forwarding this video to my MD.

Would replacing the damaged lymph nodes resolve this disease? Do you think one day SOON, we will have a transplant list for lymph nodes? I developed this disease at age 48. I noticed that when I fast the weight drops off. I have lyphedema in both legs.

I did water fasting for 3 days (no eating) and in that time I lost 8kg of water weight unintentionally. In doing so, the right side of my groin which gets hard when I eat poorly, went completely soft like the left side but then when I returned to my calorie deficit diet, over a 11 day span I regained the water weight which resulted in the right side of my groin getting harder than before the 3 day water fast. how was your experience after fasting? or do you mean intermittent fasting?

David Chang = Like everyone else, he describes the past at too great length,... Descriptions of the past, "rare and hardly reproducible experiences" in 2010... we are in 2023, nothing effective to date in terms of surgery. Lymphovenous bypass (2013) ... Lymph node transfer (2014 ) ... Are long, expensive interventions, little in relation to the financial profile of 70% of the patients, especially in the USA and Europe where surgeons and anesthesiologists are paid indecent amounts per minute of work. Liposuccion is not mentioned, ? why not a simple liposuccion every 5 years? This solves the disadvantages of having a huge leg, even if it does not solve the absence of draining lymph nodes.
