Okay, no complaints on the crappy video. I stood in my chair in the Memphis Coliseum on November 26th, 1976 with an old silent 8 mm Kodak home movie camera and took this. I added the music from the One More from The Road album. I am pretty sure those were the songs that were playing. I had more footage but this is all I could save. I think there is something about the raw quality that is still appealing. You can tell the crowd was into it. These guys knew how to put on a show. I saw them many many times, before and after the crash in 77. RIP to the fallen heroes of my youth. You always were and always will be my favorite band. My life has been filled with your music. God Bless and Fly High, Free Bird.....

Best lineup of all times!!! Now that was Skynyrd boys and girls!
@kathyrais574
@kathyrais574 3 жыл бұрын
I agree, though if I could pick a lineup, I think Bob Burns was a better drummer than Artimus. He played Freebird on the studio cut & just think as tight as Skynyrd has always been, think Bob was tighter. Just my opinion, well & my husband who ran sound for a few local bands (not sayin it makes him expert, but he has great ear for sound. The stuff I have been able to find with Bob sounds slightly better to me. Rickey Medlockealsi played drums with them but have never heard him, he said in interview, he had played drums before & he actually called Leon maybe lookin for roadie job but whoever it was said call Ronnie because we need a drummer. Bob Burns was having mental issues so he wasn't always abke to play. He did come back till 74 I believe when Artimus took over. Also probably gonna get some hate in this but as much as I loved Ed King & think he was amazing guitar player, I believe Steve was phenomenal guitar player, maybe because I like that bluesy sound he brought where Ed's background was psychedelic rock w /SAC, not that he couldn't play bluesy, just think Steve was just magical & IMO would have been next SRV Also read that Ed King played bass on Freebird, not sure what other tracks
@paulles1377
@paulles1377 2 жыл бұрын
@@kathyrais574 Ed played bass on the whole 1st album with the exception of 1 song. Ed joined the band on bass to replace Leon who had quit the band right before they went in to the studio. After the album was cut Leon returned to the band and Ed became the 3rd guitarist.
@kathyrais574
@kathyrais574 2 жыл бұрын
@@paulles1377 and Leon replaced Greg T walker who briefly played bass after Larry Junstrom left. Thought Ed played bass on all but Tuesday's Gone & Mississippi Kid which was Al Cooper aka Roosevelt Cook. Ed just wanted to be in band so he played bass but his heart was at guitar & he & RVZ agreed he was good bass player, not great so they hopped in car & went to ice cream factory where Leon was working, my dream job BTW, & talked him into coming back & 3 guitar army was born. Blackfoot had disbanded so Rickey called someone in band abt bein a roadie, can't recall if it was Allen or who but they said call Ronnie because we need a drummer. I have read a few things on why. Bob Burns had mental issues but was a great drummer which makes me wonder why they needed Rickey, heard they played double drums at times but I think as much as Bob was their friend & a great drummer, w/his mental issues he wasn't totally dependable, eitger that or the drugs Bob took made his mental illness worse & his drums not as good as they had been. Not sure. I think Rickey & Greg came around same time, Rickey said he knew he wasn't great drummer plus I think they decided to put Blackfoot back together but Rickey did record some great songs at Muscle Shoals, I believe Bob must gave gotten well enough for awhile but abt end of 74 he had mental break in Europe. I think RVZ had already hired Artimus & they did some shows together as well. Sorry, I hve always loved Skynyrd but back in time Steve started I had family illness & death to deal with. My mom died Auf 77, 2 mos bef plane crash so the 2 were always together in my head & I couldn't listen to them for several yrs, forward to watching U tube, I decided I wanted to learn more abt Steve, it was always in myonf that he was only with them a few mosso when I fpund out different, I went down the Lynyrd Skynyrd rabbit hole as my daughter says, learning & some relearning, watching all their music live, watchin every interview etc I could find. I find that I just now mourning their loss which I am sure sounds bizarre but my mom was sick 75-77, then when her death & crash happened so close, I only had room to grieve for my mom. Once I was in a better place I started listening to them, but not thinking abt all the tragedy just enjoyingy fav band again. Bot even sure why I am sharing this with you in particular except maybe it is cathartic in a way. Sorry for the TMI but just putting it out there, makes me feel a lil better

Oh my goodness. What a treasure you have there my friend. One of the great tragedies of rock and roll is the fact that there is so little quality concert footage of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band. Other than Knebworth and a few songs from Day on the Green we have almost nothing. So glad you were able to save and salvage this. Great band, always and always will be my favorite band. Thanks for sharing this.

Do you not mean October 27th 1977? Skynyrd didn't have any tour dates in September 77, they played Vegas in August 77, then the street survivors tour started on October 13th 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
