Rest in peace Gary Rossington who passed on 3/5/2023. No music coming out these days come close to this type of instrument and vocal mastery. All three guitarists were heavy, heavy hitters.

Allen Collins was born to rock. He's got the look, the chops, the soul. I sat down and played these songs again, last time was in the 80s. I forgotten how good these guitarists were. You don't hear anybody playing like this anymore, it's just fantastic!

@@oranstelly5393 we really are in a fight for the soul of this country. It’s too bad that some of the worst people on earth are in our government. If I had my way they would all be fired from top to bottom just to be safe and replaced by America first people. I know that’s probably far fetched but at this point it’s the only way to get those that are obviously bad and those that are possibly paid opposition to the duds like Schiff and Biden. I jus had this conversation with a buddy of mine who’s a lot more optimistic than I am. They imbedded themselves in our schools, businesses, city councils, District Attorneys and on and on all the way to the top. But I do have hope that President Trump could turn this around on a dime. But will he get there? It’s hard to say because he’s up against the darkest forces this world has ever known. I believe the anti christ is involved too. But let’s not go there!

When they took the stage, Ronnie in barefeet and opened with Workin for the MCA with the force of a freight train who jumped the tracks . I've seen Skynyrd many times before the crash and did shots of Jack one night at the Capitol Theater in Passiac New Jersey with Ronnie .I've seen them many more times after the crash as well , even last years tour with the Doobies. For those who never seen the Skynyrd of old , you just might of missed the greatest rock n' roll band ever to grace a stage .

Never will there be a band like the original Lynyrd Skynyrd. I consider Steve and Artimus to be in the original band too. Anyone who played with Ronnie Van Zant was an original member in my book. Because that sound was never heard again correctly after he died. I remember the 79 concert and that was incredible but everyone knew who was missing and that why people in that audience cried.

@@robert.m4676I hear ya. But just like our loved ones die around us the only way the band could carrion would be with Johnny and he gave millions of people so much joy by carrying on the torch even though it wasn't Ronnie, like myself. Unless your Jesus and can resurrect the dead like with Lazarus this was our only option. I saw Skynyrd with Johnny singing in the early 90s in Toronto at Canada's Wonderland opening up with MCA and they still had Billy Powell Gary rossington and Ed King and it was freaking awesome! Ronnie's wife used to have this rule that if there wasn't three original Skynyrd members than the band couldn't go on but that went to hell because now there's none and they're still touring. The closest thing to original member would be Artimus Pyle and Ronnie's exwife and him are absolute odds she can't stand him

What most people don't know is Steve Gaines and Ed King were both born on the same day of the same year ... what are the chances of that .. Steve Gaines was meant to play with them after Ed King , those were some tough shoes to fill ... and Steve did a brilliant job . I was fortunate I got to see them about three months later, on Nov 5th 1976 at the Flint IMA auditorium on the ssme ..one more from the road tour . It was awesome, my dad took me I was only 13 years old, I went with him and my two uncles

Foreigner opened for the first tour they ever did. General admission...$7.50 a ticket...and I was leaning on the stage. 50 feet from Ronnie....barefoot as always. They had to be kicked off the stage!! 3 lead guitarists trading riffs all night. Gary, Alan and Stevie. They were the "perfect storm" for live shows and I'll never forget it. Seen some EPIC shows too...but LYNYRD SKYNYRD was a huge part of my teens as were many great bands at the time. The plane went down less than 4 months after I saw them. Just a fucking shame man.

I love how in most of their shows from the summer of '76 when they got Steve to the last concert in Greenville , they were able to do Workin for MCA again which was something they couldn't do since Ed King who wrote the song with Ronnie and made the awesome solo in the middle of the song after Billy's piano solo and then go straight into I ain't the one. That's straight up badass right there.

Awesome band and performance - I know because I was there in 1976, just 16 years old and only my 3rd gig - many followed. This was the opening number and it grabbed the crowd from the word go. I had gone to Knebworth to see Skynyrd and the Stones - my two favourite bands at the time and still are to this day. Lynyrd Skynyrd blew everyone off the stage that day - they were outrageously good and the sound quality was perfection. An incredible memory for me was the rendition of Free Bird on that sultry summers evening as the sun was setting - it was the highlight of the whole day and difficult to follow. I went on to see Skynyrd at the Rainbow Theatre the following year and they were equally good there too - sadly the plane crash deprived us of so much talent. I will never forget Knebworth 1976 that's for sure. All the bands ran late that day and the Stones didn't get on till about midnight so gig finished about 2am. My only thoughts then were "How the hell do I get home?!", but that was just secondary as I was on a high - I had witnessed rock history.
