Today I review the brand new M-Audio Uber Mic. This is a multi pattern usb microphone that is in direct competition with the Blue Yeti and Razer Seiren. This mic sounds like it has a high pass filter on it, which ultimately makes it sound a bit on the thin side.

Hi, you're doing a great job. Great reviews... I am going to podcast and I can't decide which mic... M-Audio Uber Mic or IK iRig Mic Studio... love the fact I could record with my iPhone, but the Uber Mic offers different patterns (espec. for interview situations..)... so... what's your impression on it? Which one was better to you?

Hey I know this is an older video, but what would you recommend for a polar pattern for someone just using a speaking voice? Probably cardiod or stereo I'm sure. I bought this with the idea of using it for recording, but for the time being I've just been using it for work and gaming comms. Also one thing that happened to mine, the mini-USB input at the bottom of the mic has gotten very loose, and does not stay in very well after a couple of years (as you mentioned with shock absorption)

Hello Bandrew, could you please tell me if i should buy this mic, because i was thinking of buying the bm800 before, but it takes an xlr input and i have a laptop so i need the usb sound card and like you reviewed they are all bad, the only one with decent audio costs around 140$ +mic it goes to 170$ here ( if i went trough amazon only the import costs and global shipment on any item is around 150$ so i can only buy locally) uhm there are no retails of the blue yetti as well, the blue snowball costs around 140$ and there are a plenty of audio technica but only the 1 year old and more models selling from about 100$+, for the rode microphones there are a few but most of them are shotgun and camera mounted (im using my iphone to record) also starting from 100$, the are a few samson microphones but no meteorite mostly the ones for singing and karaoke. This mike however costs 138$ here it's available immediately , are there any other options and will this microphone improve on the quality of my iphone (i guess it will but is it worth buying). Thanks in advance

Pretty harsh, and a noisy preamp. Though I prefer the sound of this over the Yeti. Every audio sample I've heard of the Yeti sounded pretty bad (especially for the price). Watching your review of it it sounds thin ( kind of muffled and a bit tinny) and a bit strong in the higher frequencies with some low or maybe lower mid warmth. So it it kind sounds like it has two very different tones. Other reviews it still sounds really thin but also has some humming. Honestly reminds me of a cheap mic built into a headset or phone or something. At least this mic sounds like a microphone, albeit an underwhelming one. Though I still think an NW-700 or BM-700 with the Behringer UMC22 (together will probably be $60~) would be a better choice than most budget USB mics or headset mics. I'd love to see a review on the more expensive USB mics like the Sennheiser MK4 Digital and maybe some of the Apogee ones (but I've heard bad things about the latter). The Sennheiser costs significantly more than the XLR version but apparently has a great preamp and converter.

@Podcastage
@Podcastage 6 жыл бұрын
I use whatever phantom power supply is in the interface I'm using. I like the Scarlett 2i2, and it's what I use in my reviews. If you're using windows, that may not be the best decision, I have heard SOME people complain that the focusrite gear does not work on windows. Steinberg UR22 MKii may be a safer option though.

Blue Yeti sucks for anything but podcasting. Ive had 2 of them, the silver and blackout over 3 years. I sold both with extreme anger. Boomy, shitty, noisy....you cant record anything nice with it. Using an audio technica at2020 - LEAPS ahead for instruments and vocals...cheaper too...and you DO NOT need any of the patterns, The cardioid is all you need. BTW this guy always promotes the blue YEti...Trust me...yourll be regreting the buy after...like 10 minutes...

Guys, if i want to record mainly voice and sometimes little guitar demos, the samson c01u pro would be better than the blue yeti? Pd: I love your videos! I watch all of them even when i don't have money
@redmegaman8063
@redmegaman8063 6 жыл бұрын
No i kinda off disagree. if you have 70 dollars and dont need polar patterns then i would reccommend the co1u. But if you have 70 dollars and want the blue yeti, save up 30 dollars (its 100 dollars), so i would get that if i need 4 polar patterns. So it comes to your personal prefrence and im not righting a long comment ever like this....
@Podcastage
@Podcastage 6 жыл бұрын
It will depend on your personal preference. Which one do you like the tone of more? If you're recording guitar, both will color the audio a bit and it's up to your personal preference which one will suit your needs better.

that thing looks like a razer siren but it sure doesn't sound like one, but that may be a good thing depending on your opinion of the mic. l personally hate the razer siren, it sounds good but the damn things are super prone to overheating and then they start adding popping sounds to the audio until the mic cools down, l have seen the siren do this many times so l don't think it's a fluke.

Please can someone help me? I am almost crying because of that shit. So I just got my new Audio Technica AT2020 XLR Microphone together with: 1 XLR to XLR cable 1 48 V Phantom Power Supply 1 XLR to USB cable I plugged everything right in and I have an issue with the sound. I have this static background noise which won't go away. When I turn off the box I still hear this sound, because my XLR to USB cable is still in my PC. Is it probably the cable? Should I buy a XLR to 3,5 jack? Or is it maybe the box, because I hear no differences when I turn on the box. I always get this freaking sound, even when I turn off the box and remove all the XLR cable. As long as the USB cable is in my PC I still hear it, so it only can be the USB cable right? I hope you guys can help me.

I second what Up All Night stated. You should return the phantom power supply and xlr to usb cable and pick up a USB Audio Interface.

This literally looks like they went to the china factory who makes the razor and said I want that lol. honestly it doesn't sound at all bad for a multi directional type mic and being usb. Imo better then maybe even the usb razor
