What a race!
Here is a video of my 2nd run vs. James Bush's 2nd run. I came in 1st place with a time of 1:18:07. As usual, I am lucky that James' time doesn't count for the podium because he ended up beating my time by less than a second! James came in with a time of 1:17:67. As you can see in this video, it was close :)

Hi Alex. I see the pro riders looking at opposite directions from the turn for a moment, instead of looking down at the cone. Whats up with that?
@LexcoMotoGymkhana
@LexcoMotoGymkhana 3 жыл бұрын
Great question. All riders have a slightly different approach to head turns and it's all about using a style and timing that helps you feel balanced while in the middle of a turn at deep lean angles. Takashi Tominaga does a very basic and natural head turn, however, the style that I use is very similar to Takayoshi Sakuta where he will delay the head turn until the Magic Moment happens. The trickiest part of his head turns is during full rotation turns. It took me a while to understand what he is doing during rotation turns but I finally figured it out. I will make a video about that in the future. Thanks for watching :)

I am watching this video of me kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pOCjrMWqmN7XYYk.html and i am thinking about what you said about lean angles at the turn. What else am i doing wrong? Shedding off too much speed maybe?

I'm very glad to hear that you guys are starting up events up in NorCal! And thanks for sharing the practice footage. I think you look pretty good. Nice head turns, BTW. When it comes to advice, I think that you are on the right track regarding lean angle and braking too much. When turning on a motorcycle, you can tighten up a turn by either 1) Slowing down or 2) Leaning further. As we progress with our skills and get more confident, we can now begin to work on tightening our turns by leaning more which allows us to be lighter on the brakes. This will allow us to make it through the turns faster because we are braking less and carrying more speed through the turn. Just adding a few more degrees of lean angle will make a huge difference on how easy it is to make a Gymkhana turn. Remember the video where I subdivide a turn into 3 parts? The first part I simply call the ENTRANCE. This is when we are approaching a cone, still using Counter-steering along with Body Steering with the lower body. We are gently slowing down by using the front brake lightly. This beginning part of the turn is where we need to focus on leaning. You must get to a deep lean angle BEFORE the Magic Moment. Once the Magic Moment happens, it will be more difficult to lean at that point. As you approach the cone during the entrance, Counter-steer and work on leaning a little more before the Magic Moment. Once the Magic Moment happens, quickly relax the arms and allow the bars to turn quickly. Once you get used to deeper lean angles, you will be able to carry more momentum into a turn which will help you feel stable, more confident and you will be FASTER. Hope this helps :)

Hi... Could you do a video dedicated to only turning at the cone ( U turn and 360 turn) i failed to find related video in your MG series

I will be making a video on full Rotation Turns and further videos on U-Turns in my Level 3 series. This year has been so crazy that it has really slowed down progress with my lessons. Hopefully I will get those videos done sometime soon.
