Doing so, will save you a ton of money, as many places will quote you for a keyboard replacement, and that might go anywhere between $500-$1700 (the higher quote is by apple themselves).

Good explanation. Would be nice to also know how to take out the white butterfly mechanism and see how to replace or clean it as well.(If it's even possible)

I have the same issue but mostly in the space bar, do I use the same technique? Also I noticed that the track pad doesn’t press as before is there a way to clean it? Thank you.

discovered that arrow keys should NOT be slided up/down.. they should be slided sideways. slide left to take key out, and slide right to put back.

bro... why does this happen? MY keyboard on 2012 pro, and 2010 AIR are both not working properly... no liquid damage, one writing in symbols, one command and zero doesn't work.

Apple....NEVER AGAIN....I bough a macbook pro at 2017 with costs over 1.500euro (+extra money for a converter of their amazing USB-C--o h m y g o d--) and after 2+1/2 years...the mac has serious problems...1st: the battery is charging whenever it wants...2nd: the keyboard cannot be considered as a keyboard anymore...more than 10 keys stuck or are repeated.. and the worst: caps lock said ``AHOJ`` to me,,,a few weeks before when I was trying to open it and clean it...:( So, now... I have to replace the entire uppercase ....which I will never do!!! For the battery: apple suggests ``Resetting the system management controller (SMC) can resolve certain issues related to power, battery, and other features'' ....but in my case this does not work...the battery still has its own personality... A solution for the keyboard that can work for sometime- before trying to order a new uppercase and try to install it alone is: in systems preferences/keyboard, one can interchange the role of the ``modifier keys'' and at least for writing+editing I can move my ``caps lock;; to ``fn`` for example that I never use.... I tried to run the serial number in the ``13-inch macbook pro battery replacement program`` ( @t ) and although the mac is exactly the model which gave problems in keyboards+batteries, Apple rejects the serial number in ``Eligibility''... WTF? MacBooks Pro 2017 ...surely are the worst macs ever...
