Let's be real he did get screwed over by luck, had his jetpack not been damaged and he was able to fly he might have gotten clear and be a bit more of a threat one on one. He is the best because he knows enough and uses the best equipment he can. Losing a major part of his tactical arsenal is why he died so quick and easily. You can see he was trying to jump jet away as he was back stepping. Luck did not allow it for him and so he died.

Mace Windu was the only Jedi who got permission from the Jedi Council to use the seventh lightsaber form which relies on harnessing anger to utilize it. Since anger was such a an easy path to the dark side, the seventh form was banned by the jedi. However Mace had such a clear understanding of right and wrong, and such an intense dislike for evil and the dark side, he was able to keep himself from tipping over to the dark side when utilizing his anger for the seventh form. So yeah, Mace was the one jedi a sith did not want to face.

1:34 I love that Dooku gets disturbed at this moment, perhaps because of the sheer horror of the beheading, Mace's strength, or that his troops are going to lose the fight. He has fears and emotions and that makes him a very compelling villain.

I really like that Mace doesn’t block the bolts, but instead bats them away or down from him. Just a style choice I’d imagine but I like the idea that he’s battle-conscious enough to not want to ricochet them into nearby Jedi or something.

I feel sorry for Boba in losing his father, but I have no sympathy for Jango because here he was an idiot. He had a safe vantage point next to Dooku in the stands, yet he willingly surrendered that to jump head-on into a raging battlefield and take on the single most skilled swordsman of the Jedi Order.

Why no one questions the most stupid move when Jango jumped for the lightsaber instead of just outright shooting Windu in the face while he is defenseless. That kind of stupidity should never be forgiven. Why would you ever want to do that, man? Jedi lost his only way of defense AND offense for like 2-3 seconds, you don't get that many chances to get such an easy kill on him. Stupid Jango or stupid screenwriter?

When you're younger it looks lame, but after appreciating the technical limitations of live action against canon it gets better

Windu possibly my favorite Jedi. You can clearly see in his combat how close to the dark side he walks, almost sometimes reaching into it... Force crushing General Grievous probably my favorite one.

Jango known as one of the best Mandalorians in the Star Wars universe. And that time he was the strongest bounty Hunter in the galaxy (more than boba and din). Now you can understand how strong Mace Windu is. The only reason Anakin was able to beat him because he wasn't expecting the attack, otherwise no one would have been able to stand up to him in a fight.

@@nathanchun4880 You're right but at this point Dooku was very old. I favor Dooku in that duel but let's not forget that Windu is 20-30 years younger which makes a big difference even in Star Wars. As much as I dislike Windu, he does have the physical advantage.

Oh for sure he's pissed. He delivered amidala, and is pursuer (obiwan) was also captured, he should have left. There's no reason for Jango (as a bounty hunter) to be there. But maybe it's similar to boba, hanging out at Jabbas even though the deed was done. But boba frequently took Jabba bounties, can't say the same about Jango and dooku.

A lot of people also miss the fact that Jango’s jet pack was damaged from being trampled by the beast. That was ultimately what killed him, otherwise it would be a very cat and mouse kind of fight. The first time I saw this fight, I never noticed that he tried activating his jets long before Mace made the final swing. It just looked like he was standing still like a battle droid would.

I know jangos jetpack was damaged but before mace chopped his head off he cut Fett's pistol hand off. His jetpack cuts off as soon as his hand gets cut off. Never noticed that before. So many details when you actually break down a scene.

No, the charge of the beast damaged the pack, but he didn't notice, then when he tried to escape the charge of mace windu, the force was not with him.

Also windu probably used the force to draw the beast to him knowing that it would draw in fett, he probably forsaw it, and then after he got away from it and he stood up purposefully, he already forsaw how the beast was going to help him destroy fett by damaging his pack, or at least he noticed when it happened, yet fett did not notice, and then he saw the sequence of how he would destroy fett before he did it. *Because he is a top Jedi master I think you can assume these things.

Mace Windu is the only Jedi who could practice Form 7 without falling to the Dark Side. Jango didn’t stand a chance.

In my opinion Mace’s Vapaad and Obi Wan’s Form III are the two best fighting styles to use against the Sith. Vapaad essentially allows a Jedi with a strong enough will to counter the dark side by allowing the darkness of their opponent to pass through their body and redirect it right back att their opponent. In other words it allows Mace to use the Sith’s own power against them. Of course only a select few has the will power to use this form. Alternatively, Form III essentially focuses on creating the perfect defense to prolong the battle and strike when the time is right. The dark side may be easier to use in battle but a Sith need to give in to his emotions to use it to it’s fullest extent and bend the force to their will which can easily cause them to slip up in a prolonged battle as they give in more and more to their emotions against a Jedi who are trained to keep their cool until the right moment.

Funfact @ 1:30 It has now taken me 22 years to realize that the second shadow is the head flying out of the helmet. It always bothered me that the helmet looked as if it was empty upon impact. Super cleverly solved the problem regarding child protection.

At 1:38 Windu looks down at Jango and seems disappointed that he killed him (or perhaps that Boba witnessed it) it’s really neat detail in light of his later regret in the clone wars for turning Boba down a path of vengeance.

It seems to be poorly known that Dooku reacts like that because in the original shoot Mace was far more savage. He cut off Jango's wrist, his other arm, sliced his leg, then decapitated him. This is why Dooku appears to be in shock, but they cut the original death scene.

All that stands out in this scene is how everyone was individually fighting nothing in front of a green screen. George didn't even bother to correct Samuel not facing onto or looking at Jango after the decap. Looks so crap and the 1st thing that comes to mind if you say "attack of the clones" to me.

Play by play, it looks like windu was using his force powers to the limit to stay alive, and didnt realize fetts jetpack was busted, so going for the high shot, assuming it would be towards the legs, adds to the theme of luck and timing that cursed windu as well.

Agreed. But Mace is 2nd only to Yoda in the entire Jedi Order and he's way more aggressive in how uses his lightsaber and Force abilities. Many conflicts he's involved in would be solved in the first 5 to 10 minutes. There's a great Star Wars novel called "Shatterpoint" which a Mace Windu solo adventure where the conflict is more internal which could work great as a basis for a solo film or show. It's unfortunate that's basically the only Star Wars novel where Mace Windu is the main character.
