Buckle up, there's a lot of work to do on this one!
This build series will look at the construction of a 10cc Air Cooled 4-Stroke V8 engine. There is 550 parts in this engine, and they all get made from scratch so make sure to subscribe so you don't miss a video.
And you bet we are going to put it on an airplane once it's finished!
Plans and much information are available in this group - groups.io/g/WittleV8

It’s a great project.i built the same one some 25 years ago but the glow plugs stump me I destroyed heaps of them. If you need any advice let me know.

My goodness that's a whole lot of handwheel turning! How is registration between the two halves maintained?
@JellyFishMachine

Registration will be vie the front and rear bearing housings, they have a spud that fits into the large bore and bolts flat onto the face. I faced the ends of the case in the same setup i bored them to ensure they are square.

Curious what pitch the threads are? Looks tiny. 2-56? 0-80? People don’t realize just how nerve racking it is tapping those tiny threads. Nice work. New sub.

I started one of these about 10 years ago, enjoyed what I did, the crank case and the two bearing housings were interesting excercises, the crankshaft was ok but I broke 4 or 5 embryo camshafts before I finally got one. I was starting to flag when it finally dawned on me that I would now have to make mutiple identical items and it worked it's way to the back of the bench. I think my mate has still got it somewhere. Are you using cnc?

Nope, all manual machines. I'm really not looking forward to making 16 rocker arms, and 16 valves, and 16.......

Is that a Sherline mill? It looks bigger!

I used my sieg x3 (grizzly version) for most of this, used the sherline for some of the sump

@@JellyFishMachine I’ve had Sieg for several years and love it! Built some of the PM Research operating steam engines with it with great results! Due to a probable downsizing to a condo, I’m setting up a Sherline shop in case I have to sell off the Sieg mill & lathe. The Sherline lathe is on its way across the country, and the mill package has been delivered, but I’ve yet to lay a finger on it due to being out of town! Really amazed by your skills and looking forward to this new series! Your vids have made me certain that I can continue my machining hobby using Sherline equipment, even though I realize the size of my projects will be limited! Thanks again for producing these shows!

Really great work, very relaxing to watch and i think you are really nailing the format here, the captions work effortlessly also. As always this is great inspiration for me, i have a small emco unimat so its on a smaller scale but still so much to learn by watching your videos, thanks and greetings from Ireland
