The building behind the homeless man in Waffle house parking lot is used by the city to shelter homeless. Everything in Macon moved North and now some business is expanding west past 475. Like every city they have some old neighborhoods. Jobs are there, getting people to go to work is another problem.

People that love their city for the most part won't admit that Macon is a slum. Obviously, you see the issues in front of you. Of course the majority of the people in those bad neighborhoods are good people but the facts can't be denied. Macon has a homicide rate of 44.7 deaths per 100,000 residents. That's 4 times the rate of Chicago and 3 times that of Atlanta. Of course the nicer areas are away from the city center area. But the people talking about "You don't know what you're talking about" & "You don't know the real Macon" fail to realize that because they themselves haven't been victims of crimes that it doesn't mean that Macon isn't dangerous just because nothing happened to them. Continue to speak the truth.
