Mad Sunday Isle of Man TT 2022 is the first part in the 2022 IOM TT series where I headed across to the Isle of Man on my trusty tractor (a 2020 BMW R 1250 GS) to meet up with some mates and enjoy race week.
We stayed at Silly Moos campsite near Ramsey, and in this vid we hit the mountain section for the first time this trip, before heading down to the start line for the official start of Mad Sunday!
Mad Sunday is a memorial lap in honour of all family, friends, team mates and fallen riders - started back in 2014 to remember Simon Andrews, who sadly lost his life whilst racing in the North West 200.

Brings back brilliant memories. Took my then new Versys 1000 over the mountain with full luggage. 2015 TT, best I could manage was a registered 133MPH. Still one of my most watched old vids. I just hope the health and safety brigade don't put a stop to this amazing event.

Great video……and I’m lucky to say, I live here, the bit you were on about that was 50 limit, used to be, and still is unrestricted outside of TT week….for the very reason you mentioned, people used to go a bit mad on that road, which saw a couple of fatal incidents two years on bounce , so they put a temporary restriction in for the two weeks now👍🇮🇲

Cheers Andy, Aye I bet it’s a fantastic road to ride out of ‘season’. Can see why they restricted it to be honest. So many numpties during the TT, the standard of riding was horrendous at times!👍

What a beautiful island! Looks like everyone had a great time. Hope you enjoyed your coffee and your stay! Love the use of multiple camera angles, and the varieties of footage- definitely keeps the movement and progress interesting, as well as a more dynamic experience from a viewer'sperspective. The editing you did with your transitions were so smooth and unexpected at the same time... awesome job Bruce!

Brilliant video, but what always made me laugh up there was people seemed to keep more to the right hand side of the road, "just because they can" , never mind a smooth or racing line. All the same brilliant video. I'm going to The Manx next year, a little less manic.

It's a magical place. Hoping to get back there soon. Top tip, do not drop your keys on the ferry. I didn't but if you do I really don't think you'll be able to pick them up! The bikes are crammed in there so tight

I've been going to the IOM end of April for the last few years, it's brilliant without silly people on bikes. There are quite a few un-restricted roads still around, but they are sadly being reduced.

Like you I’ve been doing the TT and now the Manx for quite a while. Although I am doing the Manx next year I am also going over last week in July for the very reason you mentioned in your post, really looking forward to it 👍

Cheers Alby, aye the J&H can really has transformed the tractor for me, love the noise and the ability to switch between the three ‘modes’ 👍 Yeah sadly accidents on the mountain section are commonplace during the TT fortnight, the standard of riding is pretty horrendous and folk just go way out-with their abilities a lot of the time.

Love the Isle of Man. Never actually been for the TT but for a few days with mates its brilliant. Great place to ride a bike and loads of good roads. Oddly though, no matter where you start and where your going to, you have to go over the mountain. Weird that.

Great vid Bruce! Loving the content! Some of the bends up on the mountain looked like if you got them wrong you’d be having a crash for about a week! Interested to see your views on the line rider tents🤔

He survived, I did first aid on him and he regained consciousness. I left once the old bill arrived and took over, then he was air lifted off the mountain.

@@teapotone I bet he was pretty banged up from what we saw. The distances the debris scattered, the position of the body. Probably high energy trauma. Glad you were there to help! Many won't have a clue what to do, or the resolve to act.
