I don't think Madonna thinks about what her fans want. I think she thinks more about what story she wants to tell and what songs fit that story. Since "Drowned World", her concerts were not dependent upon her hit songs, and as fans, for the most part, we've come to accept that, at least I have. If she really cared what the fans -- not me, mind you -- wanted, she would sing more of her hits. I'm thrilled with the setlist, but it does leave out quite a few hits and BIGGER-hit songs. "You'll See", "I'll Remember", "Take a Bow", "Cherish", among many others were all big hits, yet were AGAIN ignored. Again, I'm fine with that, because the setlist that we do get is nonetheless awesome

That she departs from the point where is at, knows what she wants to say, reflects back on her songs and chooses the ones that express what she wants to say. Past, present and future are interconnected.

I was disappointed back in 2001 when she didn't include this song in the Drowned World Tour set list. And now, after 22 years, Nothing Really Matters has been chosen as the Celebration Tour opening song: a great redemption. I couldn't be more happy.

I really like Madonna from the 80's magical time, but I must admit that this time in the 90's with the album Ray of Light, in my opinion, is one of the best of her career, it's iconic.

The music scene in 98 was Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync. Madonna was a 40 year old new mom and she said f*ck the ‘rules’ and DOMINATED with Ray of Light! So risky and unexpected.

Actually Britney Spears only released her first single in mid of 99 and so did Christina Aguilera. NSync had their first US TOP 10 song in '99 and Backstreet boys had big hits in '96 and '99 but not in '98. In 1998 was all about Titanic Celine Dion song, Madonna (this album sold over 18 million copies!), Janet Jackson ("Together Again" was the biggest hit of her carreer) and a couple more things (but not much more global). Madonna never went anywhere since she started having TOP 10 Hits in 1984 and during 1998 she had another 2 TOP 10 Hits with "Frozen" (#02) and "Ray of Light" (#05). But in 1997 she had a TOP 10 with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", in 1996 with "You'll See", in 1995 with "Take a Bow" (#01 for 7 weeks), 1994 with "I''ll Remember" (#02) and "Secret"(#03).... and in almost all years before since she started her carreer. Before it was more regular some 40 yo woman to have TOP 10 Hits (Tina Turner, Cher and other artists did it as well before Madonna).

LUCKY LUCKY YOU!! How much did you pay for your ticket?? Just saw that she finished the tour last night, 5/5/24 on the Copacabana Beach in Rio with 1.6 million people in attendance. I couldn't afford ANY of her tickets for the entire "World Celebration" tour. Saw her last in 2008 in her hometown of Detroit.

Ray of Light is the undying album that Madonna made for all generations. But the song “Nothing Really Matters” was an oppressed song by Madonna, even though it is one of the most beautiful and modern clips. When you watch it, you are surprised that it was produced in 1999, something truly amazing.

Fun fact, this video is recorded in sweden at the shcool of KTH, in the basement of the school roughly 25 meters down there is an abandoned nuclear reactor wich was swedens first nuclear reactor. The reactor was active from July 13, 1954 to June 6, 1970. The reactor is now gone but the hallways and big rooms are still left and gives of a creepy vibe wich made this video spectacular.

For some strange reason, this song was stuck in my head as a kid! And I remembered the parts in the music video where this woman was dancing while wearing that red Kimono before I realized it was Madonna years later! I never thought I would see it again!

Waited more than 20 years for her to perform this gem on tour. Finally my wish came true and she performs it on the Celebration tour. What a brilliant opening. Everything about it blew me away. So fitting that she chose to open the celebration tour with this song. Every ending= a new beginning. A disciple straight out of the bible. ⚡☄🌟🤍💙❤

For me it's Frozen, but this is a close second. But I like basically everything she did together with William Orbit. Those songs all sound unique and interesting even nowadays.
