Today, we're leaving Ambon and heading to the Banda Neira, home of the Spice Islands. I've wanted to go there for so long now and I'm finally getting my chance. To get there, I'm hopping on a small 18-seater twin-propeller plane and flying about an hour to the island. I couldn't of picked a better day to fly too, just a perfect day. After landing at the Banda Neira Airport, I meet Mr. Allan and he takes me to his bungalow that literally sits at the foot of a huge volcano. I'm excited to be in Banda Neira, much more videos to come! Stay tuned.

There are many dutch fort on this island. Portuguese conquered the rich spices island before dutch take over and build 4 VOC fort (Belgica, Nassau, Hollandia, Concordia).

5:55 = *BASARNAS* (Badan Nasional Pencarian dan Pertolongan) or (National Search and Rescue Agency). Curious about the taste of nutmag jam. Usually what I eat is "Manisan Pala" 🙂

Thanks for your Video Nick, it’s absolutely amazing, you should trying diving in Banda it’s the famous place in the world for diving. I am so thankful that you are exposing my beautiful island Ambon and surrounded. I never been to Banda but through your podcast I enjoyed watching it. Honestly even I’am now , live abroad , I am very proud to be Ambonese. Thanks again to explored the spices island. Hope you enjoy your time in Ambon, Banda and other island in Moluccas.

You need to check Hotel Maulana. The oldest hotel in Banda and few super famous people stayed there like Lady Diana, Mick Jagger, etc. And close to Indonesia Independence Day, they have this unique night market ..

during ancient times, route to banda neira was a treasure route and clouded by mistycal story with giant fish that could eat the boat. First the javanese majapahit got rich and sold it to arab indian merchant. But arab merchant find that route and bypass javanese as spice broker. That was why majapahit trade system colaps plus a civil war. Then europe came with fire power and the rest is writen on history book...

Nutmeg in Indonesia called "Pala". There's 3 parts, the fruit, the seed, the flower. The fruit can eat for rujak/manisan/jam, the seed is the "gold" spice, and the flower is kind of herb.

Nick, I really enjoy your videos since your 1st day in Indonesia. Touring Java island and now come to Maluku Island. Actually I'm very surprised You are here in Maluku never expected before. When I was in Jakarta, I Watched your YT Channel and Now I'm in Ambon then you are here as well 😁😁😁. Hope you visit Kei Island too after Banda Neira. There are many beautiful spots to catch e.g Ngurtafur Beach, Ngurbloat Beach, Hawang Cave with its pristine water, waterfalls close to the beach is amazing. Kids needed a mind training program to dispose trash to its proper place. Adults also need to have routine program to clean up their neighborhood from trashes. Then the government also need to provide reliable trash bin and trash management system. It's 2022 already and many Indonesians still don't take it seriously. No wonder we have trash problems everywhere in Indonesia.
