Really enjoyed the video, you got some great shots of the Eels getting eaten. It brought me back to my childhood fishing with my grandad and uncles and also fishing with my friends in lough Eirne.

There aren't many folk who haven't spent some time on the bank at some point, yes those eels got a good hammering from those cormorants. thanks for the support, regards Matt 👍

Love your rain prediction , your gear gets more and more , one day you may get rid of the barrow and get a four wheel buggey . This could be the way fisheries could go .. Drive in load bug out plus with free bbq bin. Still a bloody good watch , keep well and keep fishing. R.

Good video Matt, without the blanks we would never be so happy when we catch anything, all part and parcel of the sport mate...As for the eels...you saw 5 eels...wrong, it was the same eel, the sneaky bastard was letting itself be swallowed by cormorants and then eating them from the inside out, it was really 4 different cormorants and the same eel that you saw/caught. LOL

@drcarp73774 жыл бұрын
Unlucky mate. Windswept open lakes like this aren't my favourite venues. I much prefer some visible features, like lillies, overhanging trees, or islands. Still, one plus point, next time you fish it even the eels will have stopped biting, cos the cormorants would have eaten them all......lol!
@MaffTUK4 жыл бұрын
Yes i like fishing to features under Lilly's, tree etc this lake will eventually have all of the above. until then ill just keep plugging away at it 👍 and just maybe one day i might get a bleeding fish out of this water LOL
@drcarp73774 жыл бұрын
Maff T UK it looks a very young water, maybe only a few years old. I have fished similar lakes before, and the fish always seem skittish. Normally a lot get caught when it first opens, because they are new stock and inexperienced, but then it suddenly gets a lot harder. Relatively clear water and no snags means they don't stay in one spot for very long. You put a few leads on top of them, and they are gone, especially when there are so few fishing the place. If it's quiet, my approach would be to set half a dozen traps all around the lake, leave it for a few hours, and then just drop a single rod on them in turn with minimum disturbance. It's a lot of bloody hard work and messing around, but I think bivvying up on such a water isn't the one until such time as they have the cover of lilies, etc.
@MaffTUK4 жыл бұрын
@@drcarp7377 I did get the opportunity to stalk the place once as I was the only one fishing it but I could not get them to take no matter what I tried naturals, boilies or bread all failed on that day
@drcarp73774 жыл бұрын
Maff T UK Have you tried prawns? If you microwave them for a minute, they toughen up enough to stay on the hook quite a while. They can be pretty instant, but admittedly not such a good bait when there are loads of eels. So I would only stalk with prawns on your lake. For the static approach, perhaps a nutty combo, such as a Brazil nut fished over tigers. I love fishing boilies, but some waters just aren't boilie waters, for some reason. If it was me, I would make sure I was doing something completely different from everyone else, and stick with it for at least 6 months. Keep putting the chosen bait in, until they see it as a natural food. Maybe even apply your chosen bait combo for several trips at the end of the session, so you are not fishing for them with it. Eventually they will switch onto it, and start searching if out, even if your lines are in the swim. I'm not saying any of this will work. I struggle also. Don't we all! Just my ideas of how I might approach your water.

@SteveT1803515 жыл бұрын
Kellet seems to either fish its socks off or share blanks all round. Maybe try Kents Bank for a change. Especially the margins. There's a contour map on their website at www.clearwaterfisheries.co.uk/kents-contour/ which could be useful. I've not fished it since they extended the lake but it used to be good and I see no reason why this would have changed.

I've had current bivvy (fox) 8yr and not a sign of water leaks, had previous (jrc) 7yr and no leaks, But they are never stored / left wet after sessions.

Seen a few leak on the seam's on other peoples bivvys. Is there a new fishery by the river on the m6 just past the Preston junction, as I remember it being dug out about 8yr ago, looked like it was going to be a lake
@MaffTUK5 жыл бұрын
@@grahamw6503 I think your talking about the Tickle Trout junction (31) in the valley south Preston its a wildlife/bird sanctuary Graham, there's one either side of the motorway not for us fishermen :-(
@grahamw65035 жыл бұрын
@@MaffTUK yeah that's the one, shame that, I did see the small one on the other side and thought it was a bird sanctuary, the rspca bought a water by me, Burton mere, and turned it into a bird sanctuary, was a half decent fishery just attracted all sorts of people, e in the summer though, as most day ticket do
