The "crew" I hung out with as a teenager was a sure path to prison or death for me. And I had a bad feeling. One day I noticed a Military recruitment center, walked in, and joined the Navy. Back from a couple months of Bootcamp and two had been killed in a robbery. Four years later when I finished my service, ALL of my pals were in prison or dead.

Thank you, Mr. Michael. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk of the courage it takes to commit suicide. Suicide is the hardest decision anyone can make. It takes incredible pain (emotional, physical, etc.) to go over that tipping point. My heart felt condolences for the loss of your dear friend. He was not a coward. 💗

Your body fires ever neuron and synapse in itself as your trying to kill yourself trying to make you not do it like if you see in a movie or tv show someone about to shoot themselves if they make the gun shake or their finger tremble a lot its their brain telling the body not to even though youve made up your mind the body still goes into self preservation trying to stop it

he does glorify it, he never once mentions that these "good guys" were actively bullying and roughing up civilians for money, that they would extort working-class shopkeeps for money, that they would traffic and drive girls into prostitution. They're all good guys so long as you callously ignore all their victims, which is the distinguishing factor between someone with true regret and true understanding of the evils of the mob and someone who just regrets the friends they lost and the fact they got caught, which is Michael's position

I saw ' The Godfather ' in 1972 when I was eleven and I admit the Mob Life has intrigued me ever since. I have a large book and film collection covering every aspect Mob Life including the history of the Mafia going back to Sicily and my own city of New Orleans where there was a war between the Matranga and Provenzano families for control of the docks. But the grim realty and the destruction of families as Michael described shows the ' true face ' . Thank you Michael again for a gripping heart felt look into that stark, grim life . . . still it's fascinating.

My dad is 92, born on Feb 6, 1930. Still going strong and aiming for that 103 or higher! US Navy Korean War combat Vet and 23 year Detective with NYPD. Knew ALL the wise guys in Manhattan during the late 60 and 70s. Locked up The Chin more than once, was at the Gallo killing at Umbertos. Said wise guys were all respectful of cops. Not sure who Vinny Blue Eyes was but he was at a cop function in Manhattan and took a liking to my mom - danced the night away with her but ALWAYS respectful. My dad introduced e to Forlini’s (no gone) and I had many a great time at the bar and in the restaurant during my NYPD days. God Bless, Michael 🙏

PrinceOfTheCity1 yep I'm apart of the Dixie mafia we don't kill only if circumstances came to it especially if a person is on drugs screwing up and becoming a danger to our business. Because if your on drugs the government will pinch you and you will definitely turn on us. No one likes a traitor even your own country will kill you lol.
@straightoutacopenhagen1672
@straightoutacopenhagen1672 3 жыл бұрын
PrinceOfTheCity1 like you probably don't believe me or don't know what the Dixie mafia is because we are not as big as the Italian mafia but back when the Atlanta mafia was alive we supplied them with moonshine and guns or drugs. The Dixie mafia has only been mentioned once but they painted us as racist assholes in mafia 3 video game and that we were murderes but we took the John Gotti root and didn't harm civilians. We also don't have the Same hierarchy as the Italian mafia its more of if you make the most money and supply the most business your the boss but we want that to change.but yah drugs now we try doing stuff helping communities now like protecting locals from robbery and other gang violence.
@straightoutacopenhagen1672
@straightoutacopenhagen1672 3 жыл бұрын
PrinceOfTheCity1 also another thing is the only big murder that happened was a judge decades ago and it was horrible because the Dixie mafia is southern nationalists unlike the Italian mafia we don't kill our own people in the south.

I love mob stories. When I was a kid my dad told us stories about living in Chicago while going to school there. One day he was introduced to Babe Capone snd he offered daddy a job. Daddy told him he’d think about it and he took off and left Chicago. Came back to his family because he didn’t want to get involved in crooked stuff in Illinois. He was in his early 20s.

Also being a college educated young man you could see the writing on the wall and you knew it was time. You were ready to be fair to your wife and kids. Love you and god bless you. Also I think you went to Hofstra with a family friend that became a prominent doctor in the New York area.

Cold hard business. It's romanticized in many ways the past lives of the old organization. Things have certainly changed with time and that old organization has faded away with the majority of people just getting involved in legitimate businesses which do not cause any legal troubles. With the world wide web and everyone connected, the possibilities are endless. Great story, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, he was a real American and a legend in his own right. I respect his decision to meet death on his own terms and the fact that it was his decision not someone elses.

First of all Mr. Franzese, I love your content and could listen to your stories for days on end. That being said- it sends chills down my spine when he says things like "I never held any grudges", "I'm not talking out of school". It is that clearing of the air, just in case somebody who may be involved in this life still, so that they don't take what he is saying as disrespect or take it as he is divulging too much information. That's the scariest part for me. Even though he hung up his hat long ago there is still a code of respect that has to be shown and he does a great job showing that respect. Personally Mr Franzese, I have all the respect for you in the world. Your content is phenomenal and it gives us a glimpse into a life that most of us have only seen in movies.
