I dont think enough people understand what he did.. he took what is equal to a mid major to a 33-0 record and all the way to a championship game appearance.. THAT IS INSANE!!!

People forget it was Magic AND (Greg Kelsor -first round pick, AND Jay Vincent -long NBA career) vs Bird. Bird had some nice teammates and role players, but no NBA skilled players to help on his side

That's why the sports reporter said .....if you stopped Larry you pretty much stop the team! Cuz Bird didn't really have much help! Lol.

I'm a counselor - you're correct on Bird's dad having Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.) We're getting more research and public education about trauma, more prevention/treatment options, and are reaching more people, but we still lose so many lives to that condition... A bit of Reactor feedback I thought I'd share, in case you find it helpful: I prefer when reactors make their feed the main event and keep the subject video in the corner window. If I want to watch the video, I'll go watch it. I clicked to see what you did! 😊

We should rename it TIH, their in hell. PTSD sounds too nice 😢 I hope they find something to help us.

My Best Friend for over 25 yr now... was a successful NASCAR driver in the 90's.. but her father suffered from PTSD also.. and she remembers him waking up screaming also... so sad. He was a Vietnam Vet that also took his own life.

The first team I ever saw a team play was the Harlem Globetrotters. I like basketball players who make fun plays and share the ball. Great reaction thanks! 😊

If you had $50 a week then you was actually doing well. Remember this was 60's 70's.

Uhhh...NO. Do some more homework on the economy of those days. Even $100 a week with a family of six, placed you into extreme poverty.

$50 a week *to feed two adults and 6 rapidly growing children*, in a very isolated part of Indiana with none of the easily accessible safety net programs that city dwellers take for granted ? Larry was their 4th child - he had three older brothers going through their growth spurts (bottomless pit hunger), and the Birds were tall people (although Larry became tallest, none of them were short, petite people genetically. Even his mom was a tall woman - one pic shows her coming up to Larry’s shoulder, so she was probably a 6’-er herself. Larry’s youngest brother Eddie grew to 6’6”)

If you go to an Inflation Calculator comparing 1960 to today, $50 was equated to about $521. Poor and difficult with a large family. If you compare 1970 (Larry's adolescent and teen years) to today, it would be $374 today. I would consider that extremely poor for a family of 8.

@@jameshelm2847 Late,60-etc,gas was 31 cents a gallon. If you were working, you could buy a house around 20 to 30 thousand for less than a hundred a month.
