We dropped 4 awesome photographers (Trevor Dayley, Shivani Reddy, Elmer Escobar and Marlies Hartmann. What up, fam!) in the wilds of Los Angeles with just their cameras, an awesome model, and the brand new MagBox. It’s a friendly competition to see who gets the best shot under fast, fun shooting conditions--and you're invited to play along with us. What would YOU shoot? Tell us in the comments!

Tough call but give it to Marlies this time round. Loved the fern shot and the tunnel shot (credit to Trevor for the comedy which got the expression from Nia). So much fun - Hillarious banter and trash talk. Please do more of these, they made my day. I am also a Madmod lover and can't wait to get the Mag Box system. Would love to see more of these. Not an original idea but done to perfection - keep it going PLEASE...

This was amazing! Please keep this kind of videos coming. Also, it'd be really useful for aspiring photographers like myself if EXIF data (with flash settings) was shown alongside the pictures.

What a great challenge. I love it. Please do more of this. It also helps me, as a flash beginner how to use flash in several ways. It is inspiring. All photos were great, baut Mythos favourite is Marlies photo with the black background and the leaf.

shivani & Marlies: You Nailed it with The first Shot. Nice. @ Trevor: wow.. love the way you controlled the background on the black background with the two light setup. My overall vote to Marlies fo Creativity and capturing emotions with all shots. Trevor: Keep doing this. Try this with the gear we already have. Sphere, bounce, grids, Gells... The Softboxes are not yet out for all of us...

Favourites -1st challenge- Marlies buttery background into nailed this challenge. All other shots were very good and skilful 2nd Challenge - Elmer love the leading lines provided by the trees. All other shots were good 3rd challenge - Marlies with foreground shadow and subject in low key shot was fantastic. Shivani shaped the model with the light with a superb expression. Again all other images were very good.

Awesome. This format is very interesting..Marlise's photo with ambient light killed was nice. It'd be very informative for us viewers if exif was mentioned with the pictures. Thanks

This was great, but I really wish you included the image settings with each shot, to show how the photographer achieved it, especially in the first challenge.

This was a fun video. The first question is: how tall is Trevor? LOL Overall I liked the shots by Marlies Hartman. Loved the first one with the tunnel as the background. This was probably my favorite because of the way she used the light pattern as a backdrop. Also really liked the third with the fern in the foreground. Wouldn't have thought that would work but it did. The jump shot was nice but too small in the frame for my taste. But with just one shot action was already a stretch so I can understand why she didn't try to go tighter. She did a great job getting it. Not easy. Not to take away from the other shots. They were definitely good.

What light stand was used to get the overhead angle? Or was that achieved using the MagShoe?

Hi Matthew, that was because of the MagShoe. It rotates easily to position the MagBox or your flash at that angle.

I'm sorry to say that MagMod is not designed to work with the new Profoto A1. That's not to say that it can't fit, but we cannot guarantee the functionality.

Denise, an array of Godox/Flashpoint Speedlites were used in the MagBox in this video. Mostly the AD200 and V860II

Love the content and idea. It would be great if the photographer told us the settings and the rationale. As a hobbyist it would be incredible difficult for me to figure out the settings.

@Jay G - unfortunately our cameras don't record flash settings in the camera data, so it's hard to say for sure. But we will try to announce that info more often in future videos. If you have a particular question about one shot in the video, just let us know the timestamp of the video in mind and I can certainly give you a best guesstimate.

In the last test shots since they had to completely kill the ambient light, they prolly used full power on both.

One looks like it has *two* AD200 strobes and the other looks like it has two speedlites.

Yeah it was a combination of Godox AD200's and their regular Speedlights. Just whatever each photographer wanted to use at the time. When trying to overpower the sun we often used both AD200's at the same time.

no creativity! with magmod, you can get a wide variety of looks if you let each photographer choose their favorite modifiers. everyone only used a softbox. gels, grids, snoots, ... none of them are here.

:) - It's because this was a challenge where we had to use the MagBox in all the photos. You are right though MagMod does have some amazing modifiers that allow photographers to be super creative. I am sure in the future we will do more videos like this and open it up to photographers to use whichever MagMod modifier they'd like to use. :)
