@@pjbj12 Will always be impossible to say since many candidates are no longer with us. Also, access to many of today's specialized resources were not available to masters like Morphy, so was Morphy relying more on his personal skill than what we see today? Impossible to say for sure.

I love how those positions are equal for almost the entire game. I can't fathom how they manage that in such varying games. I would certainly blunder in an epic fashion at any step. I might not be the brightest nor am I a good chess player, but I can appreciate how beautiful those games are where the tension never releases despite how intricate the game is. Levy's comments guiding us through it certainly helps!

Someone needs to invent resurrection of the dead because I think watching Jose Raul Capablanca vs Magnus Carlsen in an endgame competition would be the greatest spectacle in all of chess history for me. So many endgames won by Carlsen today and he just makes it look so effortless. Excellent description of the games as usual too Levy, despite being so jetlagged. Thanks.

Theres more echo in this home set up than the road set up, but I think i agree with your sentiment that the saturation was a bit much for the road set up compared to this one. It's a drier, crisper sound.
