With Urdu a Punjabi Pakistani wouldn’t be able to talk with a pashtun Pakistan and a Pashtun Pakistani wouldn’t be able to talk with a Sindhi Pakistani so thats why Urdu was chosen as nation language by Quaid e azam and believe me his decision has helped us Pakistanis unite a lot as a nation without Urdu we would have been very divided and alienated with each other. But in East Pakistan people didn’t understand him and they thought that he was saying to completely wipe out bengali and impose Urdu which is not true he meant to speak your ethnic languages but also have a common language for Pakistanis to communicate with each other.
