The classroom bottom door, like the windows at the top, is for ventilation. The peach floating down the river is Japanese folklore: "Momotaro was born from a giant peach, which was found floating down a river by an old, childless woman who was washing clothes there." There is a large anime series called Hometown Rebuilding: Folktales from Japan with 258 episodes.
