I think we as fans need to make a concerted effort to take a stand and send a more clear message about our feelings and opinions. Merchandise blackout periods, stop buying tickets for a week etc

At this point I don’t know what if anything it will take before this front office takes action . They were complacent in offseason , now complacent in taking action . The front office just doesn’t belong on a baseball team , let them work for a company in manufacturing shopping malls or office buildings .

I just wanted to say, the "being honest and moral and staying in middle management, or doing whatever you can to climb up to the top" dilemma is the reason why my mom decided to immigrate to Canada and study the bible and became a devout christian, lol.

Mark's comment about intelligent selfish managers falls in line with my impression of Atkins, which is that he's a politician- he does not take responsibility or accountability, and will happily evade the truth in order to save face. He obviously presses the right flesh and kisses the right babies. And like many a politician- he's good at the politicking but not the actual job of governing.

I agree scott it is not the analytics, but the analytics department. I think people misunderstand how the assessment of any large number models works. You have to look at all the factors and understand which ones are actual the ones driving the results in each situation. It is not always the same ones and a good analyst will be better at picking out the right factors in each situation. Baseball is not the only area where analytics is used. To see how important be better at analysing the same information is simply look at the different returns of investment firms. they all start with the same publicly available information.

You know...i'm no conspiracy theorist (proceeds to share a theory of conspiracy)...but i've been getting these yucky little rumbles deep in my gut about our team being sa-bo-taged somehow. The decisions upper management has made for the past few seasons have ranged from less-than-wise to premature (not very well thought out), all the way to downright confounding. The number of opportunities they've missed seemingly by sitting on their smooth, well-manicured hands makes me shake my head. The talent they've squandered...and indeed are in the process of squandering...makes my heart ache. Maybe i'm reading too much into things, but, there've been times when it's felt as though upper management is simply not for us ultimately. Why are we imploding like this?

Doug Eddings is my least favorite ump right now, as far as balls and strikes go. He doesn't insert himself into games like other bad umps do, but Eddings' strike zone moves around and gets super wide at times. He's irritating over the course of an entire game.
