GFI is a must in a wet environment, felt the tingle once then it tripped, probably should have tripped before I felt it. Getting through hole is getting harder, and usually more expensive if you can find these. Good way of doing it with the conversion boards for prototyping or one offs. The worst electricity interaction I had was long ago experimenting with a helium neon laser where I think the power supply was putting out a few thousand volts. That’s the day I learned that electrical tape is only good to insulate up to a couple hundred volts.

That low voltage MT8870 looks interesting for the phone line circuit to avoid level shifting when running ESP32 at 3.3 👍 I’m anxious to get back into that project as soon as I can wrap up the others I have been doing over the winter.

Some nice bit's, one of my PSU has just died, put a few CAP's in the last time it died so now ordered the rest to see if this will get it back up and running. If not it's down to fault finding on a PSU where there are no circuits for it on the Webs.😞 Not played with DTMF for years, about 30 or so, We had our own telephone system design so did quite a lot with slow processors of the time.

i’ve been using an old audio receiver probably from the 80s recently and suddenly every time I turn it on there’s a little static in one speaker for a couple of seconds so I’m wondering if that has some capacitors that may need to be looked at. it’ll be placed in the corner with other things that need the lid opened for inspection.

I've a transceiver which was not used for about 38 years, it worked for a bit then the receive audio volume slowly reduced over a few days until it went altogether. that's been in the too Do pile for a few years now 🙂@@GadgetReboot

I need to update my banner as well it’s from two residences ago. What image generator did you use? I was having hit and miss success and failures.

@@GadgetReboot I am using a custom Python script with the openai library querying the dall-e-3 model. 👍It is indeed very hit or miss, I find the best results come from either giving it very little direction to having it first construct 3D frames before applying texture skins ... one can get really detailed in a prompt but so far I am having the best results by allowing ITS imagination to go wild ...

@@GadgetReboot I think your banner is really cool and artistic, personally i wouldn't change it, even less for an AI generated image, but that's just my opinion...
