I love spring turkey hunting but it's an emotional rollercoaster for me almost every hunt. Sometimes happy, sad, nervous, mad at yourself, happy with yourself, scared of what could happen, all in a short time span! Glad it all worked out!

I’m pretty sure that was also opening day for public land in Alabama. I caught that line of storms about a mile from the truck in Talladega NF and got soaked, dodged lightning, and finally had a bird fire off about 9:45.

Fantastic hunt, down on the Oconee National Forest one morning I set up underneath the gobbler . Will the sun came up he was about 15 ft from me in the tree in the tree. Of course, he flew soon as the sun came up!

Nice hunt, and not unusual for Maine! I go to Maine for most seasons in recent years, Fall is a just as cool hunt in Maine. Every year it's a different hunt, and they act a lot more like turkeys like they use to in CNY

I've done it too buddy... In PA I called my biggest bird on a string at mid day after a long morning. Pulled the trigger as soon as his head crested at 20 yds and watched a bird fly to my right and missed the second swinging shot. Got up frustrated and confused, until I heard wings smacking the ground. There were two long beards.11 1/4 beard and 1 1/4 spurs.

Keeping it real! Love it! It isn’t always picture perfect and glorious, but showing it like it is. On a side note, I totally feel you about the batteries! I usually carry four fully charged batteries on every hunt, and on cold days I will burn through all four whereas I may only use two on a more temperate day.

You making it back this year? If your coming up, it's the end of turkey season. Take a few days and go to Mt. Desert Island. It's an island off the coast you can drive to, it's Acadia National Park, mountian's coming out of the sea. Carriage paths all around the island for bikes that go around mountian's and lakes. 11 mile auto drive around the park to the top of Cadillac Mountian, first to see the sun rise in the U.S. Next stop east, England. If your driving this far, end your season on one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world. There are campgrounds you can stay at fairly reasonable. Lobster, clams, mussels, crab meat. Why not.

"crap through a fan" is a pretty good analogy. The perfect set up can go to crap in a matter of seconds. One second it seems like a sure thing the next you're scratching your head and cussing wondering what just happened. It worked out for you, so nothing wrong with that.

Great hunt.......thanks for taking us all with ya to the woods,, we've all had some WTF moments in the woods, I sat down right under the roost tree once, that was an interesting play that morning......chased'm all day, finally pulled the trigger........easy hunt turned into an all day play

Last spring I shot at a long beard at about 30 and I missed. He flew straight up and to my left then started trotting right toward me. He got to about 15 yards to my left and I rolled him. I was thanking the Lord for a second chance as I walked over to him. As I’m taking in another successful hunt I hear flopping off to my right. My heart sank. Sure enough, I didn’t miss the first shot. We’re only allowed 1 gobbler a day here in TN. Thankfully I have cultivated a relationship with our local TWRA officers. I texted one of them and let him know I had accidentally shot 2 longbeards. He was gracious enough to let me tag the second one the next day. That’s a hunt I’ll always remember!!

I hiked the AT in Maine in July. It starts getting light at 3am there. That would hurt trying to be there for gobbling on the roost

I feel your pain with the camera battery issue. I use a portable battery pack velcroed to the tripod and connected to camera with USB cord. Really extends the recording time of the compact cameras. Great video, good luck in 2021.

Another great video Dave. I ordered your gray taped mouth call in the ghost cut and received it today. I always thought a mouth call is a mouth call. A pro caller could make a three dollar Walmart call sound good. But I was wrong. Your call makes doing the water drop cluck so easy. And the high end of the yelp so much crisper. I’m 74 years old and only been chasing turkeys for 17 years and like they say you’re never to old to learn. Thanks for the videos and thanks for your excellent mouth call.

Man I’m in NC and I just can’t wait til it’s opens up here on the 10th of April wanted to got to FL but they wanting crazy prices to hunt down there if you don’t know anyone, so I’ll just stick around here

If you slow down the barrel cam footage, you can see a second turkey cross quickly behind the one you shot. Don't know if that's the second longbeard or not.

Throwing crap is what happens when you have an exciting morning bubba. That is why we turkey hunt. There are no turkey hunting basics they all go out the window when they are hammering like that.
