So, it's working brilliantly. Inconsistently, but brilliantly. This is largely to be expected and it will only become more successful from here. This video demonstrates the mainline theory put into practise. Now I just have to grow it further. This is the Transport Fever 2 Mainline.

The mainline will really pay of once the city distribution lines are in. But I feel like at that point we'll get into never care about money again territory.

Only when I spend a fortune on terrain work. After that I'll probably switch to dedicated wagons rather than Nafeys to keep things more balanced.

The problem with the universal waggon is that it picks up according to the wares list. As it's alphbetical you can end up with piles of stuff never getting collected. i.e Coal and food both come before oil so if you have a demand for all 3 and there's enough coal to fill all spots, the food and oil will be left. If theres enough coal and food to fill all spots the oil will never be collected. Good luck sorting that little problem out.

Really need to change that lumber route. You would make 10 fold by doing two separate routes with the freight station as a interchange.

I was just thinking you can force certain pickup and dropoff of cargo at certain stations using the cog button in the line manager so you can make sure cargo is going where you want it to go??? Also you have horse&cart amongst tarp trucks, might wanna upgrade.

It's working!!! Since the trains are going to run a ring around the outside, I'd also be interested in the idea you've slightly started already of a "ship mainline" splitting the map running up and down the river. Could cover some of the goods in the middle of the map not hit by the mainline and strategically drop them off at the river/train crossing points so it's still interlinked with the actual mainline.

With the train replacement method in this game, it’s possible to have one line with trains of different types running. So for example 6 trains, 2 tankers, 2 state cars and 2 boxcars. It means then you don’t need to run mixed consist trains.

Hello Colonel, I think the shared oil/steel trucks at Silent Hill might be causing oil to choke your steel deliveries. Possibly, maybe. Enjoying this series more than other TF videos. I like that there's a clear project and it feels like this is more like how rail freight would work for real rather than dedicated lines for each chain of industries.

Rapidly hitting the ‘mixed consist’ or ‘Nafey wagon’ conundrum myself. Almost thinking about having different mainline routes setup, albeit they are actually running the same route just different loadings to make admin easier.

I'm thinking of having some stations to have have backing platforms and then run some point-to-point for specific demands. Setup the backing platform in the centre of the station, then a passing lane, then the mainline platform. This keeps it all in a split-merge mode to avoid crossing oncoming traffic.

Yet another Great Series Colonel Hiya ! got a Question for you Whilst Playing Transport Fever 2 ! maps Load Perfectly and was running Fine But all of a sudden running a stupidly slow FPS maximum 35fps from between 70 - 90 fps and beginning to get unplayable any suggestions ?? Running MSi 970a-G43 Plus AMD FX6300 with Msi Radeon Rx570 8GB and 32GB DDR3

I have a problem with my most profitable line using the mainline but not the actual line. This is a line which connects Bricks to Gothem, then from Gothem Planks back up the line to the town above New New York then repeats using the mainline. The problem with this is that it would cannidalise all profitablility from the intaial mainline line and that I goes against the main idea of throwing everything along one single route which connects everything. I hope this is easier to understand than my first version.

@@luketune1927 if you manage the route, you can decide what goods get picked up at each station (or unloaded). By default they are set to pick up everything. If you have a route where you do not want an item picked up, you can uncheck it

are dirty little grade crossings dirty and little for aesthetic reasons, or do they actually impede city growth by slowing random citizen travel by road? Also I notice that one way to avoid agonizing over getting a truck platform perfectly even with the road is to place it from orbit :)

Your opinion please Colonel Failure. If you run a passenger line to Port Miggins and New New York, should you do a passenger station opposite Bongolia (same side of river as PM and NNY) and run public transport to it via a bridge? Or cross the river twice and have the passenger station on the same side as the town it serves? Thanks in advance.

Honestly? I've no idea as I haven't looked at that kind of route yet. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference and efficiency. I'm doing a river crossing in the next episode which might give you some ideas though.

Why does he set up the truck lines starting from the drop off to pick up? The trucks then first go to the drop off location empty which seems a waste but then TF works differently so anyone shed some light on this?

Can you just set your load % at Silent Hill to restrict how much Coal you are picking up so you keep room for the Oil? So like only 50% of the train would Coal leaving more room for other stuffs

@@colonelfailure It certainly will...it will really fix itself when you are running clockwise and counter...problem is when it gets to the end if fills up cause its empty then the oil is big sad!! Love the content, always look forward to it!

It may seem like i'm easily amused but no, i just find you specifically rather entertaining. I might get this game on sale as i'm not sure i'll ever have time to play. Your mental gymnastics with the Shermer station was pretty funny, especially when saying your brain has buggered off. 26:15 The little Ta-Da~!s with the log train were cute.

@@colonelfailure For a while there, Colonel, you were running engines at the head of a consist bunker/tender first, which was acceptable/nearly-acceptable. But not recently. Too much hassle or forgot?...
