For those wondering why Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his actual name... Well, logically it might not make sense, but in practice it was the best move he could make. Recall that Taki and Mitsuha forget anything related to each other, and their diary entries got deleted. Who's to say the writing won't be different? But they never forgot the FEELINGS they had for each other when they did. People theorize that Mitsuha was actually going to do the same thing, considering she wrote a horizontal stroke on his hand which would also lead to "tsuki".

The Japanese language is very complex, and "すきだ" can be translated in many different ways. In this movie, it is translated as I love you, but there is a hidden nuance here that is conveyed only in Japanese. By writing "好きだ" in hiragana instead of kanji, the author expresses a special feeling that goes beyond a mere romantic relationship or lover's relationship in a slightly shy way. This is where Taki-ness is well expressed. However, this feeling is quite difficult to verbalize. If anyone is studying Japanese, I would like you to take another look at it after you have learned it. You may notice new goodness.

In my opinion between A Silent Voice and Your Name I would choose your name but I soon realised something. It all comes down to personal taste. A Silent Voice is more of a slice of life type of movie you know, as in it's more realistic while Your Name is more on the supernatural side. Both are great and your enjoyment depends on what you prefer more in terms of the genre and feel it gives you. Your Name kinda resonates with people but it's more about the supernatural aspects of the film. A Silent Voice is more of a story thet could very well be real and thus feels more realistic/relatable. I think this generaly proves that both movies are great but your enjoyment really comes down to what kind of person you are.

κérα Exactly! 100% agree with this statement. One of the reasons why I have more of a strong feeling towards Koe no Karachi is because well, I have a disability as well and relate upon most aspects of the film. Maybe I’ll address more of that in a future video.
@ether2275
@ether2275 5 жыл бұрын
@@mairuzukage Yup, I totally understand. Sometimes we find ourselves relating to characters more than others cause in a way we see ourselves reflected on them. It's interesting how that works but for me personally I like the idea of a supernatural force that bonded the two protagonists in Your Name. It gives the movie a more mysterious feeling and leaves you with many questions by the end. Of course some people will interpret the movie in different ways and will make their own theories about it. That's an aspect of Your Name I really enjoy.
@ermitanyohermit3603

A silent voice actually has more dynamics in terms of characters and story. If you just watch it, it's nothing more but a story of depression caused by scar of bullying. But if you dissect it a little, it's a story about a boy who doesnt listen, he bullied a deaf girl but he is the one who cant hear the entire time. The side characters are very crucial to the story as they represent different perspective and behavior towards bullying. Your name on the other hand is an in your face story where you get all of it once shown on the screen. Nothing to overthink, it's just fate playing its part to a love story between a boy and a girl. The great thing about it is the thrill you felt when the twist happened and you're on the edge of your sit slowly waiting on what's gonna happen while listening to its great soundtrack. That is the difference for me, and if you can see. I prefer a silent voice. 😉

Second, where Taki learned that the place and person she was looking for was vanished 3 years ago. Third, was the part when they saw each other for the first time and writing their names(unfortunately they didn't). Fourth, were in they saw each other for real! wherein tears pouring out in their faces..Taki asking if they met each other before. Cryyy! 😭😭😊😊😊😊😍😍😍Love this movie a lot!

when i first watched this on opening night, i literally cried the entire way back to my apartment (a decent walk and a 30 min train ride). i bought it on both DVD and Blu-ray when they came out (it's one of the reasons i bought a Blu-ray player). it's a tradition that i watch it every year when i need a good cry, because it delivers every. single. time. your reactions are very common... as i have seen it in the faces of everyone that has watched it with me. my take on the film is that the artwork is second to none (better than garden of words IMO) and the story, while a little out there, was masterfully delivered. and having RADWIMPS doing the soundtrack was the icing on the cake (one of my favorite bands!!). I used to have a very similar commute to work that Taki-kun had to get to school, so i was like "i know that place! I go past there all the time!!" easily in my top 5 movies of all time.

I prefer this movie over A Silent Voice,even though I agree with you that A Silent Voice is a lot more relatable. They're both great but I do think this one's gonna be a tough one to beat.

Yeah that's totally fine. These are both exceptional movies with their own strengths and weaknesses, i just think A Silent Voice is my personal pick out of the two just because of the personal connection i have with it.

@@mairuzukage really depends on the persons preference i think. I choose a silent voice, and your name is not even on my top 5. But i know why a lot of people love it. Mainstream storyline... lovestory, twist, thrills and great soundtrack. And that is hard to beat in terms of sales and winning the general audience. But there is a reason why a lot of people are upset that a silent voice was ignored in the emmy. Coz a silent voice is a work of art.
@MrRys
@MrRys 5 жыл бұрын
in my opinion a silent voice has deeper meaning but your name is better executed... A silent voice would be better if they either shortened it and better paced it or lenghthened it and adapted the whole manga...
