I've been saying this for years, and this is the first I've heard anybody else repeat that, and I 100% agree. I first thought about it when song lyrics were being displayed, I think it was one of the first things they were doing with the answers and the results. It would say where they got the lyrics from, but you never had to click on their page never had a chance to see their ads or whatever content they had. Thanks were bound to change with the internet that we knew. I mean why would anyone invest time into providing greay quality content when the incentive just got removed

Thank you for the informative video. It's very specific and backed up with reasonable data. I run my own small marketing company, specializing in SEO for small and medium-sized businesses. Despite achieving good results with my specific clients, transitioning to a larger scale of content can be confusing without a consistent roadmap. I value your experience in having navigated this on a larger scale and appreciate you sharing the difficulties and range of numbers involved. There's so much inflated information online that gives the idea of overnight success, which is far from reality.

Hey Adam, great video! If you have articles that are getting some traffic but are not what you want to rank for but have built backlinks to them, should you still remove the articles? I'm assuming you wouldn't because this would affect your domain rating? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! If the articles are not relevant to your topical authority and what you want to rank for, you can still delete them even if they have backlinks. What you do is a 301 redirect, so that redirects the deleted URL to another one on your blog that you choose. You can use a WordPress plugin to do it or your web host can set redirect rules too. You should point it to the most relevant, similar article on your blog. With a 301 redirect you don’t lose any DR or link value.

Hello, I have a question to ask. If a website has 250 articles and it deletes around 150 articles. Then it will crash, I know, and I have crashed my site. It has been six months, and I have written all those articles again, but nothing is working out. Now, I want to know if I write new blog posts with high quality, then will it get recovered or what will be your strategies if you get in this kind of problem. It is my first website, and I want to recover, please tell me your thoughts on this. Site's authority is around 7 and have good backlinks as well. One more thing I want to share with you. The articles only show up if they are searched in this format: Keyword/Title + Domain name.

I would update all of your articles to make them as helpful as possible. Then I’d make sure you build topical authority and lots of deep content in one niche (not going too wide with your articles). I’d also try to get your site’s DR to at least 30.

You could review laptops but it is competitive with big tech blogs and media sites. You should find a sub-niche within laptops, like gaming laptops or laptops for remote work and cover topical authority in one segment of laptops.

Yes there is. You need to perform a 410 once you deleted the article 😊

My articles won't even show in the search results. Not even after an allintitle search! My seo score is 90-91 on rank math, my content is linking to other sites but google has decided to keep it out of the search engine all together

They are indexed on the console so i know that's not the problem

There could be a number of different reasons for this. If your articles are all indexed in Google Search Console and you're not seeing any impressions or any results in the top 100, it's probably an issue of site age/backlinks. If you have a new blog, getting a few external backlinks pointing to you will help a lot. Also, sometimes it just takes some time for Google to find you. I'd also make sure that your content is as helpful as possible and written from your own human experience (not written by AI).

You can 301 redirect it if it has link value/external backlinks pointing to it so that you maintain that SEO value. But you’ll need to point it to the most relevant possible post/page. You can check the backlinks to those pages in Ahrefs or other tools. If you’re deleting and it doesn’t have any value or links, just 410 it.

So in summary, it’s getting more and more difficult if not almost impossible for new blogs to make a decent amount of money from it. A few thoughts: 1) If you can’t use AI to help you with writing articles, how can you ever scale your content so you’ll achieve topical authority? 2) If 80% of your content has to be informative, you’ll probably never have enough transactional content that ranks. Remember: Not every (transactional) article will rank on Google. 3) For the few transactional articles you’ll write, you’ll either have to buy the products or already own them. How else do you want to review products with your “own human experience”?

Funny how they make all these changes but the experience as a searcher has got steadily worse year on year. Whole page of ads to wade past. And then as a business owner trying to do consumer focused content, focusing on quality, nothing spammy etc and still losing ranking most updates. I hate the google experience now and I hope the rise of AI decimates their business.

I understand what Adam is saying, but one thing I disagree with is google is showing very high DR sites because their content is better. That makes no sense because we see people with DR over 75 being affected with the same update but the media sites that belong to large media companies aren't being affected with the same DR. Since 2017 all google updates has some how benefited the large media sites more. In my personal opinion this is because of internal partnerships between google and these media companies. These media companies are mostly owned billion dollar companies those of which have a lot influence. Us bloggers partner for articles its naive to think they don't partner with each other as well.

I agree with you and I don’t think their content is better - it’s definitely worse than a lot of posts well written by smaller blogs. They just have more authority and backlinks so Google trusts them I guess.

I thought it was mostly what you said but then the wordsatscale guy just proved he can rank a list of words with zero readability last week still. Seems Google isn't nearly as clever as they want to be seen as yet. Also ai stuff ranks well, so does scraped duplicate job descriptions by the thousands on another site I run word for word, but I have on another site hand written well referenced proper career area expertise, no ads, maybe 1 affiliate link on entire site, unique articles own experiences over 20 yrs with python walk throughs screenshots etc etc that Google drops from the index without the site: parameter. The enigma continues 😅

The first thing you need to ask before starting any of this is "have I ever bought anything I've found through Google?" The answer is almost certainly "hell no." Google doesn't make money from you. They make their money selling your information.

It’s funny to see creators making videos and believe they know how to rank and what you should do and not do, when even Google itself doesn’t know anymore what they do and what works and what does not work. Helpful content? Why would I need to ask Google or so called SEO experts about helpful content? That's some funny 'ish' .....I've made a conscious decision to only follow @AdamEnfoy just because I find it makes it easier on my brain... I really like the way you teach and the way I look at it is that everyday I watch it's positive reinforcement from an expert in the field. It's kind of like getting reps in ...in the weight room.
