Oh man! Chris buddy! Ya can't be having all those connections exposed like that!! In the mud and rain. DC jumps between polarity!! Especially near moisture! Think about it!!

The first thing that I thought is that you can't leave all those connections open to the elements, and wet muddy alaskan roads. Its going to short out very fast for sure. All of that needs to be covered up/sealed, or better yet moved. Kent

You should have installed a Victron DC to DC charge controller to allow appropriate charging of your lithium batteries without burning up the vehicles alternator. Like many of the Victron products you have complete control with Bluetooth, but allows you to manage how many amps from the engine is used to charge the house lithium batteries. Easy on a motorhome, a little more of a challenge on a fifth wheel since we have to run another large gauge cable to the trailer fr the truck and also from the engine compartment. Should’ve also really considered a Victron inverter charger so you have complete family of everything on one app. Yes a little more expensive, but great reliability and all on one app. I don’t even use any of their display systems since the app works great, even from the truck while pulling my fifth wheel. BTW we met at the Dill’s BDay party.

Thanks so much for reaching out with your concerns. We are already on the road and a bit concerned about how things were installed for sure. We are currently in Sidney NE. At this point we are reaching out to the battery company for any help they can provide for someone to look over our system and make any repairs needed. If you happen to know of anyone in the are we would greatly appreciate it. We are close enough to the Denver are we could travel that way if needed. We absolutely remember you both. Michelle sent us picture of the eclipse while hanging out with you guys. Looked like everyone had a great time. 😊

@@oureverydaygetaway I'd say short term you're going to be ok as-is. Without the DC-DC charger, the more apparent issue will be not topping off the lithium batteries since the vehicle regulator is set to charge a lead-acid battery (lower float voltage). Still ought to get it most of the way. The isolator you have serves to prioritize charging to the start/chassis battery first, then when it's topped up, divert to the house bank. I don't know what alternator comes on a Promaster, but it ought to survive the trip ok. Extended high load will of course shorten it's life. No guarantee, but by shorten I don't mean immediately. You'd figure it being spec'd for an RV application they'd be using whatever the highest output version available, but then again it wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer cut a corner. You shouldn't stress over it. Even if the house batteries fail you still have the chassis engine and hopefully either that Bluetti or a small genset as a backup. Or maybe rough it LOL. Sorry, I hope everything works out and look forward to seeing video of your adventure!

I didn't read all the comments but some great points in them. Exposed shunt to elements, a DC to DC charge controller something to consider But having on board Lithium batteries & inverter / charger are game changers in the boondocking world. You won't be sorry if you go solar in the future....pain to install...but the rewards well out weigh the pain. Looking forward to following you to Alaska... E-trailer...is Awsome as well

Excellent upgrade guys! Glad you were able to get a spare tire on the back! I (Joel) was working on an RV recently and the owner had rig up a way he could plug in to his Bluetti he stored under his dining room table it was a setup for sure! Lol

Thank you! We ended up taking the main Bluetti battery and the portable solar panel. So far we have used the Bluetti everyday storing it under the kitchen table as well. So glad we made the decision to take it with us.

Getting closer to the trip! Every time you get a new rv, there’s always upgrading, improving and adding things for organization and convenience. I hope you enjoy your little rv, we really enjoy our Winnebago View, which is very similar to this one, we have enjoyed the smaller size even after having 40ft and 30 ft Rv’s. Safe Travels!💜

Hey. Thanks for all the fun videos. You might want to add a rubber grommet where the lines come down below the camper. And maybe add some reinforcement to that battery tray. You added a lot more battery weight than that tray was designed to carry. I am looking forward to your Alaska videos. Have a safe and epic time.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and love! We really appreciate it. Currently in Sidney NE getting some work done at a Cabela's campground. Working our way to Wyoming tomorrow and then to ID to visit one of our daughters. The weather has been perfect! We'll have to find a way to meet up with you guys this Sept/Oct. I use EcoFlow Delta Pro. It has 3600w inverter. Have a spare battery and lasts a long time.

Glad you got the spare and hopefully you brought both Bluetti's. With all of the boondocking you will be doing, having both would (if nothing else) would give you peace of mind. What’s sad solar once you get to the Canada boarder basically doesn’t work . On your Alaska trip if your going to boondock. Your generator will be your best friend..

Bluetti is a viable option And so is EcoFlow. Both are dual use home and away. In 2020, I engineered and installed a full Victron 3,000 watt system, 4 solar controllers, six 100w battleborn batteries, 640 w roof solar, Aux ground solar up to 1,00w, and DC to DC converter in our class c Navion. Total material cost around 10K. With Bluetti and EcoFlow That's the way to go. Oh, and in 2023 I did purchase two EcoFlow Max 2400w as back up for the house and the navion.

Great video! I’m surprised the batteries don’t need to be inside the coach. Does lithium need to be climate controlled to be functional? Such as not be exposed to freezing temperatures or excessively hot temperatures?

We are in the process of getting to the bottom of just that question. The installer didn't have a problem with it but we've heard from a lot of people that they need to stay above a certain temperature. Will be posting a update when we have the correct answer. We don't have a cost for the labor yet but the batteries through Enduro Powder would cost $2,400 for the same 4 we used. That comes to $600.00ea. Everything else used to make this upgrade happen was about $1,800.00.

Doesn't someone make a larger alternator that will handle all of your charging needs when the motor is running? For all that boondocking a few solar panels may be a good idea. Will you be towing a car?

Not sure but this is what was recommended by the manufacture. If we end up keeping this class C we will add solar. For now we have our Bluettti with a portable solar panel. Hopefully everything will work out.

Another great video. Very interesting up grade. We a little bigger Class C Winnebago older 2013. I would consider doing a similar up grade. Let me know how corroded your outside wire connections are after 6 months. Let me know how warm the batteries get, park on asphalt. DC-DC charger would of been a better option.
