With the recent announcement of the Old World I thought now was as good as time as any to take a look at these sturdy boys

The quality of the minis is far beyond in AOS compared to 40k that has to play a big part in it.

They are literally inspired by the whole of Eastern Europe. You have things taken from the Czechs, Poles, Russians and so on. The armored cossacks legit look like Serbian knights.

Its all slavs mixed in plus southern nomadic tribes (Who had a lot of contact with slavs) So, architicture and nobles more or less based on medieval-early New Times Russia, but a lot of military - Poland + tatar mix

@@sethleoric2598 yes, it will. Guns were invented by dwarfs long time ago and were quickly appropriated and improved by skaven. Then dwarfs stagnated for thousands of years with the same way warhammer 40k tech is considered too sacred to improve on and humans slowly but surely got to get guns of their own later. So, if anything, dwarven guns should be more powerful and numerous if you come back a thousand years back it time.

I miss the more human factions of warhammer fantasy. It felt more grounded and realistic than age of sigmar and was a nice tonal difference to 40k. Now age of sigmar and 40k are like the same thing. Age if sigmar seems like it's just built around what looks cool and works for the table top. Fantasy felt like an actual functional world.

Could say it was kinda based on the eastern block, that was under the communist rule for quite some time. Which includes Czech republic and our capital city Prague. So what they did is they took the region and marched several centuries to the past. And yeah we are slavs as well. Anyway love the video.

Actually Kislev has the Grand Duchy of Moscow as the base, but they have all Slavic cultures thrown and mixed in. Poland, Lithuania, Hungary...hence why they mastered squatting.

I'm pretty much sure that it's the easterners that invaded lands of Kislev and conquered ungol tribes that formed aristocracy of the region that is called Gospodars and are masters of the region.

My current theory of the old world returning is that it is a video game like "Age of Sigmar champions". The release date being 3-4 years or more is the same as a full game dev cycle. The recent info of the world map takes ques from the Total war game. And the concept art shown can both apply to models in a video game as well.

The return is more covering the older eras. Think HH tabletop game vs 40k. AoS is Canon, but it's own thing whereas Old World covers specifically the War of the Three Kings where Strahd nearly wiped the Empire. As for models, I want to build them for a "three game" army (Old World, AoS, and 40k (reskinned as Vostroyan) because I'm a cheap ass) and smile at my opponents when they face my battle-hardened army of drunken bastards
