DlennartD~ I think I'd responded in my head! This is an L200 Closed Cell foam construction, detailed with upholstery foam and spray adhesive. Supported by good old PVC piping and bungee cords. -J

I thought I was gonna die when I saw you carrying that gigantic head across the workshop! XD How do you get into work like this? I've done miniatures and figurines, sculpting, modeling, etc. most of my life, to do this would be a dream. Sadly I have no idea how the heck you even break into such a specialized industry, not to mention excel in it. :/

Thanks Alpha~ You did a better job answering this than I DID! We also have little tips within the lessons for alternative, budget conscious methods to the ones the pros are teaching here. The problem is... there just ain't no cheap way to make a silicone mold. Even STONE costs. Certain paint techniques are easily budget-able. And sculpting in Wed (or even Chavant) is the CHEAPEST next to good ole' pencil and paper drawing/design. In future, we'll be better at marking what's most affordable. J

Your lessons are so intense. I'm still chewing on the rod puppet tutorial. One thing I'd like to see from you guys are possible low budget alternatives to some of the things you do. I realize that's not always possible, but I'm sure there must be some. Keep it up, either way. You're inspiring thousands of artists world wide, I'm sure.

I agree. A lot of us can not afford the materials needed for some of the lessons. There are still a lot of things that you can learn from watching the pros. The first Gaurage Monster DVD is like a lower budget way to do the rod puppet. I have both the Gaurage Monster 1 & 2 ,along with the Rod Puppet DVD. I hope to use a little bit of the knowledge from both DVDs to save money ,and make qulity rod puppets.

Well, Ted never knew either when he was cooking his own monsters in his mom's oven in Wisconsin! It just starts there... right where YOU ARE! Once you develop a body of work, start SHARING IT! Or start with your FIRST PIECE. Right now. On FB, on our page, there are thousands of artists who are starting, or who are joining together on the journey. Meet filmmakers. Get your stuff OUT THERE. Then, before you know it, you've worked on some movies. THEN you're already there. Go get the next job!

I bought both of these streams. I learned a lot! I did this stuff to make my Aeon Calcos /Lizardman cosplay costume for A-kon 23. I wish I knew about sealing the foam with the spray glue. That would have made the costume a lot lighter. Is there any chance you will make another foam fabrication video specifically for a monster costume? I am sure people would love to see the foam raptor concept from Jurassic Park latexed and airbrushed.
