Thanks a lot. Just made one. But I have one piece of advice. When you heat the end of the 1" of PVC with the heat gun dont heat it directly perpendicular to the PVC. point the gun at a 45 degree angle to the end of the pvc. That way it heats the outside of the PVC and the inside at the same time. First couple attempts was a fail for me until I figured it out. It kind of "wadded" up the PVC when heating perpendicular. If I could post a pic I would. Anyways, Thanks so much for the video.
@FnDTX
@FnDTX 3 жыл бұрын
That’s good advice!! I had okayish luck with it I guess but I did kinda hold it perpendicular. On one of them I held it at more of an angle now that I think about it? So that makes since why one was better! Thanks for the advice!! And thanks for watching, hope it helped! Cheers 🍻!

Im looking to make something like this for a boom pole on film production sets....is there a way to make a base for it where the wind cannot knock it over? I've seen something like a metal tube with a flat large square base, but I forgot what it was used for
@FnDTX
@FnDTX 4 жыл бұрын
So you can possibly use a 24"x24" 1/2"-3/4" piece of plywood with a 1_1/4" dowel rod screwed into the middle to slide the boom pole onto? Then put sand bags on either side of it? Good luck!

Just curious why you cut the piece out on the top? Is that to help the fishing rod set at an angle?
@FnDTX
@FnDTX 5 жыл бұрын
It's to allow the reel to seat down and stay in one direction (works best on spinning reels). I know it doesn't work with all reels, like the low baitcasters, but usually they have a trigger on the rod. You can slide that into the slot to keep the reel facing the right direction. Thanks for watching!! :)

Thank you for the tutorial. Looking to make this to bike 35 miles to a great fishing spot in the city since i cannot drive. To you think you could make a small esky holder to hold the fish? I'm not too sure if your from Australia but in Australia, an esky is like a box filled with ice to store the freshly caught fish. If you can't make a tutorial it's fine but please respond so i know you received my thanks and idea.

That will hold it. Good luck! Cheers! 🍻

It does not create fumes to heat with a heat gun as long as you use it correctly, and not over heat the PVC. One only needs to heat until its pliable. However, you make a good point, it is advisable to use it outside. If used indoors. Be in a ventilated area. Thanks for watching.

Good workup. To anchor the spike, I wouldn't recommend an actual spike. Hammering will also split the post-formed end, which is no longer malleable due to the heat. Instead, I recommend bolting what's called a Dock Anchor, which is a short auger, onto the end of the pipe. It requires a 2" pipe, which can be reinforced with a short PVC sleeve. Then drill two diametrically opposed holes in the body and fit in a pipe, which can be metal, to serve as an auger wrench, which should also be reinforced with a short PVC sleeve. Make a thousand of these, sell them for a million dollars, and become a porn star.

Barry D. Thomas Sr. Yeah, we figured that out after the video was made, it's a learning curve. New videos have communication audio in our thoughts at all times while creating the videos. Thanks for the comment. We're working on it.
